...next saturday... who's going? I sure as hell am!!
I checked the site to get a mate an extra ticket but it looks sold out (it's a pretty big venue too). does anyone have any ideas what will be played?
My guess is probably just one track from each of Aphex, Boc, SP.
If you pushed me for what i would want to be played it would be orchestrations of
Aphex Twin - Flim BOC - 1969 SP - The exploding psychology
(though The Exploding Psychology isn't very like now is it?!!)
What do you want to hear done?

ah - i see - you were quoting me.
quote "the exploding psychology isn't very like now"
is meant to be
"the exploding psychology isn't very likeLY now is it."

just how complex can you get with an orchestra percussion wise? will they have a drum kit? what instrument can recreate a track that goes
"beep bleep beep bleep boooooooo whoop tick chit chit woo etc etc!!"

Percussion-wise an orchestra is way up there...they have tons of different instruments plus expert players to play em...
...some of the rhytmic complexity might get relaxed a little...but probably not that much; these are real good players...

tell me about it... I'm thinking of moving jobs soon as these lot have got so hardcore with me over the last few months...
I did see something on BBC4 the other day with that Evelyn Gleenie woman playing these really complex percussion-led pieces - if they are half as good as her you're in for a treat....

i thought that report said you were doing ok? man, if you're working at 4 in the morning then it sounds like you are being pushed a bit hardcore!
never heard of evelyn gleenie but sounds interesting - i'll check her out - i just reckon the whole thing will be a bit surreal - i'm mean is it gonna be full of warpheads getting minkered, squirming around in their seats or what?!

hehe..I was half-asking myself what you were doing up at 4.30...I'm not working; I'm up at around 3'ish every day now, 4 hrs sleep suits me fine & it gives me tons more time to fit stuff in...
I was kinda hoping that once our Inspection was over they'd chill out a bit but everyone is still hyped-up...maybe they'll be better once the summer hols have come & passed...I do really enjoy the summer cause theres no-one there apart from the support staff so it gets nice & peaceful...
Agreed on the surreal...I reckon they'll be a smattering of classical music fans & everyone else will be tweaked-out warphead...should be pretty sublime...

I'm going to this. Should be really interesting. Hopefully the composers who are reworking the warp pieces will do more than just an orchestration though. Bit annoyed that a tracklist isn't up yet. Surely the point of this is to be able to reference the original piece to what has been developed?
Did anyone else see that on the Warp site that evening dress is "highly recommended"? Jesus, I know the arts scene is pretty liberal, but the RFH full of transvestites is a bit too much. Still, I spose it'll be worth the effort. Anyone know where I can get a nice little black number, just the thing I reckon.
Oh, link to the info:
http://www.londonsinfonietta.org.uk/home/news_in_depth.html
You can still get tickets here:
https://www.rfh.org.uk/main/booking/index.html?esroevent=20 012
The rest of Ether looks pretty interesting too. Is anyone planning on checking out some of the other performances?

This kinda reminds me of that Acid House brass band...they used to play loads of stupid raves classics on, yep you guessed, a brass band..
I think they opened the dome in 2000...playing KLFs What Time is Love?..
dunno if they are still going or not...

I hope a good recording of this will be available to buy or on soulseek. I want to hear it. Something about orchestrated IDM sounds cool. I thought orchestrated Tool sounded pretty strange, so this will be awesome.
