Any idea when there's going to be a halfway decent board
put in place instead of this one? It's really not a very
good system and considering good, free, bulletin boards like
phpBB and YaBB can be put in place easily i don't see why it
hasn't been upgraded. Perhaps past topics wouldn't be
converted, but it's better now than later (or never..)

Views on this matter?

No ability to subscribe to posts, all messages shoved onto
one messy board, all replies displayed on the one page, no
private messaging... to me it's horrible to use..

i mean, having one main page displaying all the topics is
much better

I definetly agree... having several different sections is a
pain in the arse imo

i agree - i like threaded boards or ones similar to this
one; phpBB and all those suck big time.. they are not
boards, they are heavy applications, with lots of
unneccessary
who's-online-for-how-long-when-is-your-birthday-shit we
don't need

but, maybe it's just me..

Jaroen, how? the frank zappa site board has a good few busy
boards instead of just bunching all the posts onto one, and
that's just for one artist.. here people are discussing
everything from afx to squarepusher to autechre to boc to
bogdan to philosophy to personal matters. It just doesn't
make sense.

PhpBB etc. are quite unstable compared to this board. OF the
two sites I've used that are run using it, they have had
about 200% more "faults" than this one.

Not a very good system??

You're kidding. This is one of the most efficient,
attractive, user friendly messageboards i've ever used. The
problem with things like PhpBB is that there is so much
inconsistency. Plus, with so many seperate forums, the
place wouldn't seem so lively. I like how i can refresh the
page and see 10 new posts. Also, the strict interface
guidelines that phobia has in place make the board very nice
to look at, avatars all the same size, color scheme matches,
etc.

I wouldn't want to have it any other way.

However, I do think they should get rid of the "temp.
messageboard title"

personally, i dont partake in any other board.
this one is perfect because it avoids all the bullshit like
private messaging and all that other crap.
plus, the people who use it are sensible and the people who
run it keep good control of it.
its a straight to the point message board and i lovez it.

The secret of this board is that is closer to real live than
other boards. You don't change rooms IRL when you wanne talk
about something else.

I know I'm new here but I can't see me staying around with
this board it is AWFUL. I came here because I heard the
traffic was great and it is, which is precisely why this
board type doesn't work.

The topics are moving around so much, and there is no
indication of who made the last post in a topic from the
index page so you don't know if there is anything new to
read. If I come back 3 hours later all the topics have
already dissapeared onto the next page. I can't see anything
to hate about the other free webboards out there. Having
different forums means you can talk about what you want and
not get bombarded with shite, and the topics don't dissapear
to quickly.

This is the only messageboard that i've been coming back to
for such a long time, and made over 2000 posts! It's perfect
as it is, and i wouldn't want anything different
about the layout and/or the way it functions.

It's chaotic, yes... but that's what's so good about it :-D

"here people are discussing everything from afx to

Exactly! You've just summed up all the reasons i like this

i know i'm new here and all.. you guys probably haven't even
been reading my posts... nobody's responded at least :-P

but this board rawks.. it's hard to keep up with topics, but
now i know i can put 100 topics per page, so that'll make
that a bit easier.. i've been on a few web-based forums and
even though i don't have any problem with the phpbb boards
i've seen (can't say i've used a yabb one), i really like
this one for the sleek streamlined look and feel.. this is
starting to sound like a car commercial..
