Well 2 days ago I d/l-ed fruityloops and yesterday evening
I already tried to make something. I never made music before
(except for playing piano) so don’t expect anything of it
please.
I’m sure that I’m not even familiar with most features
of the program yet (effects and stuff..), still I decided to
just try and make something.

I’m not posting this in order to get positive reactions
(I’m not that naïve :D ), but purely to ask you
‘professionals’ what I should add/leave out etc. you
know, more like tell me everything that’s not good
about it (I know already that I shouldn’t only use
FL-samples but make my own also..i’ll do that) I’d
really like some advice.

It’s pretty simplistic and only 1:49 short, so please:

let's get this over with

thanks in advance :)

though i'm not a pro at all i still found it interesting to
hear, but morton kid the things i heard yesterday were also
cool, why not adding those too?? You really can't go wrong
here! (except about that bass-blasting at 01:00 AM !!!!)
just kidding

So, too bad i cannot provide you with any advice as i'm not
in this fruityloops at all. When you have your own samples
it will give it a totally more personal sound, i'm sure.
Keep up te good work!
I'm expecting your first album next week!

well don't expect any intelligent comments from me... i know
nothing about musicmaking at all, i couldn't tell a
piano from a guitar ;-)

But still, i think this sounds nice. It's not very original,
and the beats sound rather simple (i like that little
rattling-sound that keeps popping up though). I thought
anyone's first attempt at writing a song would be one simple
beat with random synthesizer notes over it or something ;-)
But this sounds rather coherent already... if you keep
practicing and getting better at it, i could imagine you
creating some beautiful boc-like tracks.

So overal opinion: not bad at all for a first attempt, doe
zo voort! :-)

Im new to writing music myself and I must say that for your
first attampt it really is something! I really like the
melody in the background

Stick with it you've got something

I liked your song. Its better than mine. The fact that you
presented it to us inpires me to do the same.

Here's my first attempt.

At my new Zebox page

oh yeah, it sucks. I just thought Morton would appreciate
that he wasnt alone in this.

well i like your beats more than mine, and you already put
an own sample in (i only used FL-samples)
it's a pretty funny track :)

btw thx everyone for your comment

downloaded it...

that was the orionsting sample eh? :p

well definately not bad for a first try!
liked the kinda bubbly sound surrounded mentioned...

its a good idea to just use the standard floops stuff, and
make some basic tunes, you'll start to get the hang of it in
no time

"If Morton can post his songs, why can't I?!"

:)

I'm uploading to zebox right now, my third attempt in my
whole key-twiddling history.

Inspired by this outstanding act of publicity :)

And your (Morton's) song is much better than all my work up
to date. Why? I don't know. I don't have luck nor talent.

well i first try some more with floops-samples just to (as
JAroen said) get the hang of it, 'cause at this moment i
don't know most features of the program yet,
then i'll start making my own samples

btw it's good to hear i'm not the only one who just started
with this music-making stuff (cheers rookies ;) )

ow and try to experiment with some filters too if youve got
the basics, they are a great to enhance your work, alot can
be done with em

starting chord from Polygon Window's Audax Powder.

*to you from early 2000.

it's actually simplistic as hell.

Maybe it's because I didn't like Autechre back then?

couldn't open the link (no acces or something) but i just
typed 'skyfarmer' at zebox
i liked your track esp. the first part :)
where did you get the samples for the beat? are they
f-loops'?

i don't know how to edit and insert own samples yet, i'll
try to find that out

offline marlowe from Antarctica on 2003-02-28 05:52 [#00574181]

I would change the percussion sounds - they make it too
obvious that it's a fruityloops preset kinda track. Download
some soundfonts at :

thesoundsite (when it works)

and download some VSTi and plugins at:

database audio

I liked the chords, and the bouncey bass in the second half
tho - good effort mort ::)

PPL JUST GO HERE OK

samples... you can find loads of samples on the net! there
are like sites with thousands of hi-q samples, all
categorized...

lemme search for some...

and no I don't use fruityloops... yet?

I wonder if it's a proper shareware so I could just d/l the

c'mon xltronicers
please take a moment to listen

i'm sure many of you musicmakers can give me much advice,
i'd be very pleased to hear it

sounds great to me... wonderful but a bit classic melodic
base, nice rythm... what else do you need?

as a non-pro non-musicmaker (oh well I do it over 2 years
now but who cares) I can only say:

1. make your own samples
2. experiment with the leading string some more

What's the point in making music. There's always someone out
there who's stuff is better than yours. I tried to make
music once. Then I listened to Let it bleed and i stopped.
What is the point?

?
what's the use of picking up a sport of some kind then?
there's always someone out there who's better than you.

i'm just having a good time while i make music 'cause i love
music, and it's a great thing to make something out of an
idea in your head, whether others like it or not.

what's the use of coming to this mb? what's the use of your
reply? there's always someone out there who's replies are
more silly

well on second thou..

please just don't ruin all (my) threads by posting stuff
that hasn't got anything to do with it bill

thank you

There's nothing out there for you my friend. You can go on
playing your little instruments, living your own little

It's all black. black. There's nothing, there's no-one and
there's no point. There's no future.

Let me get this straight bill:

1. you turn on your computer
2. you connect to the internet
3. you go to xltronic
4. you crack your head over some impolite things to say
5. you do your very best to be rude an harsh
6. you click the cross in the corner to close xltronic
7. you turn of your computer
8. you feel satisfied

Ow, thanks again to get me started, people will mix in this
discussion instead of commenting on my shite, another thread

there's the little man: Bill i'm very sorry for you feeling
so depressed and blackholed, but there just have to be
people like you being such a piss-off. You're a proto of a
