Seriously, after listening to draft the whole time for almost a week now it sounds nothing at all like Confield. It has much more accessible melodies, and even some beats that are easy to catch on to. The album as a whole also feels much warmer than Confield, save the last trick Reniform Puls, which kind of ends in Lentic Catachresis style.
Also if you can't figure out why Theme of Sudden Roundabout was named as it was, listen to the mood of the album till that point, then listen from Theme on ;)

Everyone's take on music is different. It depends on mood and atmosphere. Also music develops more as you listen to it.

all those granular rolling hits and DSP stuff is in there, that makes it sound a bit like confield but the mood is very different, i think they share technique but different approach or mood?

i think people relate draft to confield because the beats do not always go along with the tempo, and get all wacky.

when i saw ae live durring the confield tour i couldn't figure out what i was hearing for the longest time, but i soon figures that there were multiple beats at various tempos... so that some of the beats would sync up for a few and then diverge into chaos, and come back, and so on.... it's really quite beautiful the patterns that came through. i think the best ae i've ever heard was at that show, but it probably had everything to do with the lsd.

oh wow, we probably saw (heard) about the same show then.
the most difficult part for me to get into was the 3rd portion which was like..
THUD... THUD THUD THUD.... *bumdidddipbap*
THUD.... THUD THUD THUD....
the beats were really complex. but when they slowed that one down... it was fucking great.

yeah, definitely might have caught a variation on the same show. at one point there was 20 minute version of track 3, 4, or 5 from confield (it's a been a while since i listened, can't remember) and that just did me in. at that point i had heard tri rep, amber, and peel session 2.

thats very cool. they didnt play anything off of confield or any previous albums at the show i went to.
they must've been more different than i thought. thats good though. imagine playing the same thing about 15 times in a row...
also i remember for about 15 minutes they played some MECHANICAL as hell humming/electronic noise for what felt like 15 minutes which was great. did you get that?

there was only the one track from confield and bucephalus bouncing ball that i recognized. everything else was new to me. the confield track was new when i heard it. could have been some 15 minute mechanical humming noise... like i said, lsd was involved. i remember how it all felt, but i'm at a loss trying to describe what i actually heard. they were still play playing when the club kicked out the last of us brave souls at around 2:00. i remember it felt like i had travelled to many alternate dimensions, as if lifetimes had passed... what with all the asteroids and supernovae witnessed.
