I run max/msp and I doodel around in supercollidor. I can
tell you right now that the learning curve for both these
programs is more than worth your time. If you are
interested in how synthesis really works, there is nothing
better. Knowning exactly what your doing will aid you in
being able to express exactly what you want. It just takes
a shit load of work. supercollidor makes my head spin, and
max/msp i have a pretty firm grasp of, but there are still
millions of things i don't know.

all i use is supercollider. i have made entire tracks with
it. If you've done a bit of programming before - and even if
you're not familiar with object oriented stuff - it'll be
right up your street... even the relatively simple stuff you
can get out of it will leave hardware bods sitting and
scratching their heads.

wanna trade patches?

i haven't created anything on supercollider im pleased with,
but if you program with max/msp i can send you my live patch
when its done. for now i could send you the beginnings of
it.

i use max/msp and reaktor. max is good fun if you enjoy the
technical side, but i can personally get better sounds out
of reaktor
