Is this the end of cd ripping?
Massive Attacks 100th Window is copyright protected to the max.
You can't rip it.
Maybe most albums will have this "feature" soon. This will bring an end to mp3 ect.
Therefore the artists/lables make more money.More money = more quallity albums ect.
IMO This is a good thing.

of course its not a good thing
but it wont matter, caus if you can play a cd you can copy it
so its rather pointless to protect cds

hm, well, theoretically you can still record the output. if you do that digitally then you'll probably have a perfect copy. it would be harder to find it illigally though.
anyway, the copy protection will probably be cracked soon methinks.

I still record my music the analog way,.straight to a cd audio recorder. The quality is actually pretty good.
It's more time consuming tho,......speaking about the protection,...is there more info about it? Like previous attempts failed miserably by the use of a simple piece of tape on the edges of the cd

technically thats against the law in the U.S I think. (the copy protected cd that is)... you buy the cd you own that copy, you can make copies of it for personal use. However in the UK you're not actually allowed to copy stuff (not even for a tape in the car or anything like that - in fact, you're only, legally, supposed to watch stuff you video off TV once)... the laws are all a bit all over the place still. I guess this whole mp3/Napster(and it's spin-offs)/cd protection affair will have to be sorted out soon...

In England, only people who paid for the album is supposed to hear it.
So we're not suppossed to let our friends listen..
But like you said the laws a little loose.

morre quality album's... you mean morre money to pump into shit bands like Westlife, and morre albums off them and so morre shit albums.
people like Radiohead make amazing albums but thats not down to money its down to talent, Radiohead welcome file sharring so people can hearr therre music and go and buy the albums if they like it.
these new anti-rripping things SUCK, fucking grready rrecorrd companys.

You have a point.
Maybe its not such a good idea then.
BTW .Theres a line on the 100th window cd near the end of the cd,it circles the whole disk,I belive this is the protection band.
*cuts out strip from cd disk*
It doesn't work if you cut the strip of the disk.It only ruins the cd,and you get brandished an idiot on the messageboard.

there is always a way of copying it, as long as you can play it in a radio you can play it in a cd-rom drive - if you use a driver that does not get confused by the actual protection. such drivers can be dld at gamecopyworld usually a few weeks before the protection is out.
even the famous pencil-trick is unnecessary if you dl a new version of iosubsys.dll

there's always and ALWAYS will be a way to duplicate. don't sweat it. The chances are, that all the labels that are doing the copy guard shite are most likey the owners of crap bands anyway(major labels). The original music lies in the independent labels which praise file sharing to begin with.
..and if you're into the BIG BIG names, there's still ways of getting it into duplicated digital form. Aside from all of the heresay plugins that will rip guarde stuff, every deck has an output. As long as it's a direct signal into your puter through a middle of the line sound card, you have nothing to worry about. Just educate yourself with studio programs...it's easy.
