well she is sean booth's (æ) wife :)

some of her tracks are nice, haven't heard much though (i
remember sometimes just white noise parts kicked in when i
listened to it) i'd say download some :D

as i have said many times, i was greatly dissapointed on
prickle. that is about all i can say about her. cool to see
a grrl in the scene but i hope she'd amaze me more :(

I saw her at a Plaid show in San Francisco... she was all
right.. not as bad as I'd thought she'd be

her new album "skimskitta" is much better than her earlier
work.

if the lot of you weren't such sexist stuck-up nerds you
might enjoy mira calix

Fine as hell....Mmm Mmm...

<< but not a huge fan of her work.

Its not the worst thing ever, certainly not the best.
Who cares, she so fine, she can do whatever she likes=)

Being sexist has nothing to do with it...
I really just don't care for her work, I mean it's alright
but nothing special...I agree with IronLung she is fine.

sexism in this case is subconscious. most of us here are
smart enough not to say or even think "oh she's a girl,
that's why it sucks so much." the sexism i'm talking about
is the whole male-centered attitude. very few of the people
here count a female among their favorite artists (bjork
being the most popular choice for those who do), which is a
real shame. i know james brown said it's a man's, man's
world, but it shouldn't be that hard to take a female idm
artist seriously. being married to one of the members of
autechre doesn't help her out, but a lot of it is just
people slagging her off cos she's female in a male world
(idm), whether they realize they're doing it or not. this
isn't unique to idm, which is why i believe what i believe
(precedent).

okay I agree with you to an extent, but I really don't think
that applies to everyone. One of my favorite artist is Tori
Amos...I have no problem admitting that one of my favorite
artist is a woman. However, I see your point.

yeah... I think Bjork is freaking great... I own all her
albums, yet I really don't care for Mira Calix

titsworth, you also have to flip that around.

Lots of 'males' out there would instead, say "wholly shit
this bitch is awesome,"

"shes hot.."

etc

and the what not, just because she has some good tunes.

i understand what you mean... people would be especially
impressed with her music cos a female did it, which is
supposed to be an accomplishment in itself. however i
disagree with you cos i think most of the time the reaction
to mira's music (not looks) is overly negative, not overly
positive.

Hmmm... well regardless of her sex, I think the sounds she
creates are very interesting, but sometimes the structures
of her pieces don't agree with me. I haven't heard any of
her recent material, but I am interested.

people would be especially impressed with her music cos a
female did it

Yeah, I think that's shit.

what does she look like? ive only seen low res pics that
dont really do anything for me, but then again....her music
is all that matters,

i like the majority of her music i've heard, but i'm not
totally getting into it. i hope she develops her style more
cause it always hints at something just totally mind blowing
waiting to come through... to me at least. then again, i
may just have to listen more, which i plan on doing. also
i've not heard the latest.

I know exactly what you are talking about jupitah...her
music is like on the verge on becoming something incredible,
but it never gets there...very anticlimatic

I had Prickle and Peel Session in my top 100 for a while,
but along with the album, they don't get listened to much
these days. I have too much stuff that's more interesting.

I like her. One on One and skimskitta are good if you are
looking to add variance to your collection. I find it good
to just chill and be lazy to.

I can also vouch that she's a cutie ;p
