I love him, and I've started threads about him before :)
What's your favourite album? mine is a toss-up between New
Skin for the Old Ceremony, and Songs of Love and Hate

Lenny is THA MAN! I prefer his first three or four records.

Other artists like Choen? Well, there are quite a few one
could mention...

Nick Drake, Red House Painters, American Music Club, Mark
Eitzel, Mark Kozelek, Manishevitz, Idaho...

Not that related to Cohen, but have you heard Bruce
Springsteen's acoustic album, Nebraska? Very good--inspired
Sean Penn to make a film.

Don't be too quick to diss him--ie. Born In The USA is
anti-war song which a lotta stoopid Rebuplicans don't
realise.

Plastic Ono Band springs to mind for its sparse production
and pained feel.

Essential Leonard Cohen by thethirdball

Anyone who wants to get into L. Cohen should probably pick
up "Best of" first and then proceed in this direction:

Songs of
Songs from a room
New Skin for Old Ceremony
Songs of Love and Hate
Various Positions
...

SKIP "Death of a Ladies Man" it's the worst.

back when I was still a youngster ,and my mother put on a
cohen LP, it used to feel like death music or terminal
illness music to me. Traumatized by it, I never tried cohen
again since.
