Holy SHIT

I just watched wave twisters.

Its by Dj Q-Bert.

Its like... the yellow submarine of our time.

Fucking amazing. Almost every sound effect is him scratching
on turntables.

Its so fucking trippy.

RECCOMENDEDEDEDED!

Agreed, but it has been a while since I seen or listened to
it...

I've been meaning to get a copy for a while now. I like
Q-bert, he is technically brilliant and yet comes across as
very humble and kind in interviews. He has good taste in
decks and mixers (Vestax all the way baby!) too :)

that cd is awsome, its obviously just the whole one large
song cut up into the beat, the movie is awsome too.

I know he's sponsered by vestax (as are the scratch
perverts), but you have to question why he is sponsered by
them rather than technics- technics would obviously sponsor
him if he asked them to.

PDX2000s are so much better for turntablism than Technics.
Whilst I personally prefer them for beat matching too, I can
see the case for technics being better. The incredible
tracking for scratching and reverse buttons make the
PDX2000s top notch for serious turntabilists. I know Babu
etc. use Technics, but IMO the perverts and invisibl scratch
piklz are the best...

Razhel's DJ was damned good when I saw him a few weeks ago.
He even did some body moves (scratching behind his back
etc.), a dying art.

I've only heard very brief extracts of that particular
release so I can't really comment...

"a dying art' - EXACTLY

no offense to vestax but they're making t-tables that do all
the hard shit for you - like spinning backwards perfectly at
33.3 - i had to learn that by hand before those decks came
out and its hard to perfect

they're killing the skill and desire it takes to be a real
dj - any serious turntablist crew would use technics not
vestaxs - vestax is japanese and so are the ISP's - so they
get free trips to japan to visit vestax HQ's - as apposed to
going to canada for technics HQ's - you decide

the art is dying but some are keeping it alive - and
honestly i think the scratch perverts are pretty lame - i
remember back in the mid 90's when they looked like a bunch
of retarded fat guys behind decks w/ minimal skills

of course the ISP's could use trash cans for decks and spin
circles around me - but come on

"and i you aint a beat junkie then you aint said shit" -
pharcyde

its kind of laid back-entoducing-preemptive strike-stuff
not too much scratching on this one

i'll sure look for wave twisters...

"and if you aint a beat junkie..."

also - technics 1200's are for audiophiles - technics (whose
parent company is panasonic) probably has no interest in
changing the best turntable ever made

feel me?

Interesting points and a new angle I'd not considered...

Spinning backwards at 33 must be quite a skill. I might try
to learn it just for the hell of it (and for when I have to
use technics in clubs :P)

Re: ISPs using trash cans, did you see that video of Mike D
using those Kam decks for a laugh? He was, like you say,
still very, very good.

The only thing I have to disagree with you on is that 1200s
are hi-fi. I know that's what they're made for, but any real
audiophile (I'm talking people who use klipsch speakers,
valve mono blocks, seperate power supplies, granite damping
etc.) will use a top quality belt deck any day of the week.

ok so its "sorta" audiophile now - but when they came out
they were the best

there are some decks - one my friend had - that cost like
2,000usd and was the craziest thing ive ever seen

isp's are the best - you should watch to videos where they
teach you to scratch - good god they're funny

Yes, I can imagine in the 70s they were pretty damn good.

I've had a listen to some records I thought I knew like the
back of my hand on an £8000 system. It just blew me away.

ISPs- Funny because they goof about or funny because they're
not very good videos?

funny cause they are funny bastards - mixed in w/ the most
ridiculous scratching you'll ever see - the bloopers are
fycking priceless

He he, I might have to check one of those out.

A great cock up I managed before I replaced my plastic EP
adaptors with metal ones was during a frenzied scribble
catching my little finger on it and sending it flying across
the room (the adaptor).

yes wave twisters is a great movie..i ordered it when it 1st
came out to get the autographed version by yoga and Q...they
put so much time into sync?ing the animation with the
scratches, and the extras with them scratching with multiple
camera angles is fun to watch

mike on kams?!!? hahaha wish id seen that one. btw I know of
your love with vestax, and i like them too, hell i own a 06,
anyway, the sound quality from the 1200/10 series is better
than the the straight arm pdx's. its all down to the S
shaped tone arm having better sonic qualities than the
straight ones, so vestax aren't the best for all apps.lots
of high quality home hifis come with 1210s.

wave twisters = kick ass, saw a thing on Audiofile (now off
the air, FUCING WANK WHORES AT TECH TV! BURN IN HELL!!!!!)
about it, some guys made the DVD on some Macs and studio
equipment in their basement for $20,000 :D

Ill try and find a link for it....

vestax vs. technics - i'd choose a pair of 1200s any day.

klipsch speakers = the shit, im packin KG4+ and they are
fucking sweeeet sounding.
