Hi,

I'm kind of new on the board.
I've seen PLAID has been discussed here several times,so I
was wondering if anybody could suggest what's the best
material to start with...

thanks a lot!

I am having trouble getting into them. I don't know what it
is because they really aren't bad maybe i just haven't heard
the right album.

So if someone recommends something let it be
groundbreaking.

thanks!

Hmmm

*pokes mwm with a stick*

you smell funny... and why can I only see 3 of your posts,
not the other 5? :P

Anyway, get p-brane, then double figure, then not for
threes... then the rest. Maybe.

If your just getting into Plaid, I'd start out with Trainer.
It's packed full with 140 minutes of music on 2cd's, plus
it's their earlier work.

I'd start off with their early material and work your way
up.

Virginpusher: What have you heard by Plaid thus far?

Now now, you don't want to put the poor bloke off Plaid for
life!

Trainer was quite a pleasant surprise to me when I got it a
few weeks ago because I'd read some indifferent reviews.

What *did* surprise me was how disappointed I was with Not
For Threes, some of it was terrible. Everything since is
great though :D

Not For Threes is emerging as my favourite Plaid album.

Lay off the crack man. :]

With a straight face, you can honestly say that 'Whirling of
Spirits', 'Choke and Fly', 'Reishi', 'Uland', and 'Angry
Dolphin' suck? :[

Maybe you should go back and listen to them, specifically
'Whirling of Spirits.' I think that you listened to it a
few times, and gave up.

Heh, maybe you shouldn't go see Plaid live.

resembles that when I go to the Metro.

'Uneasy Listening' is from 1989 man, it's OLD SCHOOL, that
might not appeal to you. I mean heck, Plaid were very
influential to the scene, they're just always overshadowed
by people thinking 7\fx was the #1 man.

As for Disc 1, it's VERY similar to some of Orbital's older
material, that's another reason I probably like it.

Double Figure and P-Brain are just great! They're only
getting better with time.

Alot of their remixes are good too.

My Favs are Rest Proof Clockwork & DF. But if you dont know
Id check out their albums when they used to be Black Dog.
Spanners & Bytes are really awesome and they prepare you for
the Plaid stuff.
