does someone know the math epxression of the bouncing ball?
I once tried to solve it out but it was no regular procent,
maybe it´s just a knob turn...

windowlicker ep ?

please explain.

no think he means just the mathexpression of a bouncing
ball.. you know it bounces faster and faster, there must be
some kind of mathematical equation for that

um. it just goes faster...
rdj doesn't use math equations, he said so in an interview

if you're talking about the math equation of a bouncing
ball, it's hella physics

gravity is -9.8m/s^2
you'd have to calculate how much energy is lost in each
bounce in order to figure it out though...

Depends on the surface area of the ball, the velocity.ect

haven't looked, but try this maybe...?

www.tetonmultimedia.com/tetonmultimedia/Lessons/Bounce

or other things you'd find on google on 'bouncing ball
equation'... like this... looks pretty complex +_-

in addition to surface area and velocity, the ball's weight
and the surface(it falls on) material/thickness/size etc as
well.. AANd, the angle at which the ball drops is also a
factor.

does anyone else's copy of come to daddy have that
"therefore, there are patterns in all of nature" a few
seconds after 'bucephalus bouncing ball'?

it seems like each "bounce" (from the song) loses 8% of it's
energy... so if the first bounce took 1 second, the second
would take .92 seconds, .8464 seconds, .778688 seconds,
etc...

but the first bounce is actually .364 seconds, then .337,
then .293...

well, in the movie max is going on about theta, the golden
ration. maybe the ball bounces to the golden ration.
spirals are delicious :P

no... he says theta, but it's actually phi. he does go into
the golden ratio though.

where+s the connection between the golden ratio/fibbonatchi
and pi?

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2003-02-16 14:33 [#00557445]

i don't know that there is a connection between phi and pi
other than that they are both trancendent numbers.

renting or buying it at soon as possible, it's a great movie
with an equally great soundtrack.

yeah

that's all you damn well need to know

if you want bouncing ball drums get the battery vsti - set a
loop point in your drum sound, then use the matrix to link
your loop counts to your loop length (negatively), perhaps
add a further modulation so each loop count ups the pitch a
little.

or you could just record a boucing ball???

when i through a ball at your head, corngrower, you could
say that in T1, the ball is X values away from your head,
then you could say that T2 could be 1/2 of T1. You could go
on, halving the distance between the ball and your head im
about to take off. So if you could do this, you could halve
the distance infinetely, and thus, the ball will never
strike your head.

sit.

increased the rate manually.

sorry to spoil your theories of elaborte math equations

we did the bouncing ball in math at school... nothing too
special about it. don't know if it relates to the song in
anyway; the equation is not too complex if even me with
b-math knows it.. it seems you are making all of it too
difficult.

it can more simply done with a simple echo-delay...
time-knob, i'm sure it's that way, cos it's handy as hell
and you can do snarerushes and flanging/feedback effects to
with only that button, try it sometimes

in the pub. Smallest "audience" ever?

teh ball loses height exponentially.. i think the equation
we made had the assumption the ball always bounces only 2/3
as high as the one before it. laa. i hate math. why am i
even bothering.

i remember that bouncing ball delay... the last song on
LP5 has the same sort of bouncing delay....

as for aphex he either: a. set an lfo the speed up at the
exact precentage that a ball would in really life. or b
recorded a bouniing ball :_)
