all a label does is bassically lend you the money to put
something out. organize / promote it for you. if it dont
sell, you usually owe them.

anyway...they let it slide.

my label doesnt work that way. unless they give an advance.

promo is usually worked into the cost of the record from the
ground up and then royalties given after that. so you should
have recieved something. might want to revisit your
contract?

sorry to hear you didnt get what you wanted straight away.

yeah, the whole thing got blown out a bit when the main
distribution company pulled the plug.

the only copies sold where through the internet, and in a
few stores throughout england.

just ended up costing them more than they made. its all ok.
just thought it was funny really.

i open the letter, to find a negative statement. hehe.

wait, so ANY radio play/gigs can get you royalties? or just
stuff they support or whowhat

yep. they collect money from radio stations / resturants /
shopping centres. anywhere that plays music. all that money
is pooled, and at the end of the year, you send in a
statement listing all your gigs. they trak down your airplay
via radio, and divy up the dosh and send it to you.

its how all artists get paid in this country. they also
collect your royalties if you have releases o/s.

these organizations are set up all over the world to help
musicians collect money from people listining to there
music.

hell, last year i even got paid for people downloading my
mp3s.

good thinkin. all radio stations have to report to apra any
aus content they play.

they also, buy law have to play something like 22% aus
content.
