Finally got around to watch this incredible movie..it's
great great great..

but having owned the Soundtrack for a while before watching
the movie..now I have come to realise that versions of songs
on the movie are radically different from the versions on
Selma Songs..

actually the versions on the movie are far superior to the
ones on the CD..

especially my current favourite
track...Scatterheart..

the version on the movie..with the interaction with the
other cast members..is a brilliant peice..

I have also noticed the differences in all the other songs
as well..

so here are my questions..

1.Are the songs as they appear on the movie..available?..In
any format..anywhere (i.e has some resourceful sod extracted
them and placed them on P2P etc)?

2.What was the reason for this change? Did it have to do
with with contracts, clearences etc with other cast
members..or it was solely a creative decision on Bjork's
part?

1. i dunno

2. lyrics in the movie give away some of the movie, so
there are different versions made up for the soundtrack.

good questions flea..

well, i don't know if there's one good or main reason why
the songs are different. i think one factor is bjork wanted
the songs to stand on their own, even though they're still
written through the guise of selma. except for "107 steps"
and "cvalda" which keep the cast vocals, it was re-recorded
to be more... something. i know that bjork's favorite singer
is thom yorke and since "i've seen it all" is a duet it made
sense to take the opportunity to record with him. the movie
versions of this and "scatterheart" ("smith & wesson" in the
movie) don't sound as good without the video when you
compare them to the selmasongs versions.

the best advice for getting mp3's of the original versions
is to use totalrecorder while the dvd's in your computer.

hmm..thanks tits:)
alas I dont have a DVD player:(

I agree..that you have to see the movie to fully appreciate
the movie versions of the tracks..but now that I
have..listening to versions on CD..is just not the same..

but I do like thom yorke's vocal turn on "I have seen it
all"..I think it's the best vocals I have heard from him..
