I'm looking for suggestions for web site to buy cds. Not
sites like Amazon.com, but some smaller, possibly locally
owned sites where I could pick up some harder to find
releases. Any help would be appreciated.

Mymusic seems to be pretty reliable. Although the
first time I ordered they were supposed to send me bubblegum
with my disk, and they forgot!!!!!

I joined EMusic yesterday for 15 bucks a month based
on a three month plan and I've already downloaded more than
a gig of music. They have tons of indie, obscure and
underground stuff, as well as lots of classic jazz, etc.
etc. They won't have everything you want but if you have
wide ranging tastes like I do it's a feast.

I've downloaded:

- R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders
- Daniel Johnston
- Akufen
- Goblin
- Pole
- Pixies
- Residents
- Electric Birds
- Frank Bretschneider
- Thelonius Monk
- Bert Jansch

... and I haven't even scratched the surface - there's still
Pavement and the rest of the Matador catalog, Ennio
Morricone.... ::hyperventilates and passes out ::

Just going to echo your remark about Sister Ray.

I ordered some stuff from them a month ago, never arrived,
no word on whether or not it was on order, no replies to my
emails. Thankfully, they didn't charge my credit card
either, but they do seem like a pisspoor operation.

Thanks everyone!

And yes, my old avatar was the punching scene from office
space. :) The file size is unfortunately too big for the new
format though.*

*Yes, this is a bump to get the topic back to the top.
