I really dont care for this album much, too many just
mediocre songs on it, its alright but I really don't see
whats so good about, its possibly my least favorite rdj
release after classics and some of the other earlier stuff
which i like even less.

I was listening to the album a couple of days ago, i forgot
how good it was. And i forgot about the clicky and glitch
like internet sounds that connect the first few tracks
together.

I think you'll find that they are zx spectrum loading
sounds.

Did anyone load the beepmap on the RDJ album into the ZX
Spectrum? I did but it must have been unspectacular as I
can't remember what it said. It was only a start code so it
would have said loading "?" or Bytes "?" and nothing more.

When I was a hatchling I used to listen to my Spectrum
cassettes in my walkman. Early experimental music eh? My fav
was the beeploaders, the ones that would count up in hex
like Savage and BubbleBobble.

I must admit, I loved the sound of spectrum games loading as
well. It was probably down to the anticipation of the game
loading, but they still sound great in my head. I've got a
load of them up in my parents loft and I think I'll get them
this weekend and just listen to them.

By the way, cut the whole reptile hatchling shit. It is
quite creepy - and not in a good way.

I'm sorry Bill it's best you don't go there as I act the
same in real life and it causes nothing but trouble. We all
do what it takes to convince ourselves it's worth
functioning. This is mine and this is more then I have said
to anyone else as you where the first to be polite rather
then attack me for it.

I quite like the idea of digging my ZX Speccy out now. I may
do that tonight.

underrated track. There's so much going on, and that organ
(do ye call it organ?) is very lovely.

i love "4" and "fingerbib"(this tune is excellent). very
very good album imho but it is far too short one.

"drukqs" is too long, "rdj" too short. Richard is lookin for
the perfect time! :o)

rdj's duration is perfect imho. A tight 30 minutes is much
better than 70 minutes half of which is filler.

The world is full of albums that have one or two good tracks
and 10 crappy ones. None of those are Aphex albums tho.

Or then I might just have an abnormally short attention
span. who knows.

I don't feel that drukqs is too long, nor do I feel the
tracks are fillers.Drukqs has its own sound that is far
unique.Which contrasts with the cliche of the RDJ
Album,which also is unique.
4 and Girl/boy are great tracks, and Logog rock witch is far
undderatted.

Tropa you must have the attention of certain doughnut eating
yellow t.v charecter....

drill'n'b to begin with but now I love it. Those
tongue-clicks are excellent! Logon Rock Witch is probably my
favourite.

Shame I don't have the American version.

jesus christ that scared the fuck out of me... that "afx v7
2309823092" track on drukqs is definate filler.. it's one of
his worst

"corn mouth" is very underrated.. and I think RDJ Album is
the best IDM album ever.. or.. maybe not ever .. but it is
the tightest (not talking slang here either) album he's
done... was it once released as only a 9 track LP?

One of the best albums i own. Just keeps getting better and
better with each listen :-)
I love the melodies... soothing, simple and nostalgic. This
album is so well done... i really think this it the
aphex twin album, it defines best what i like so much about
him.

agreed,
if it was not for this 30 minutes of music, i would not have
such a high opinion of the aphex twin. fucking ace album -
definately in my top 3 albums ever. there is no filler.

not the most complex album, but combinations of sounds &
melodies and harmonies are ace.

It's so tight, every track is unique, and the cover is
unforgettable. It's like the prototype IDM album,
seriously... it defines the genre as far as I'm concerned.
You want to show somebody what's so great about this geeky
genre, you give them this.

oh no it's not a filler, it's a sublime battle between two
extreme and oppossite concept fighting for dominance in the
song while being regularly washed with waves af acid sounds
and dark tones... brilliant!

and yessss! RDJ LP is a fucken mastapiece, old news! ;)

its a great album imo, my least favorite song is logan rock
witch, caus' it has no depth to it or whatever, it just
doesnt seem right to me... it was the track that got me into
rdj and idm (and this site) tho... i tought (still do) it
was a fun track..

but it just doesnt seem to fit for me, anyone else finds
this?

oh and WHY IS GOON GUMPAS ONLY 2 minutes!! :) i could listen
to it fr hours

Logon rock witch and goon gumpas captures the whole albums
state of boyhood humour and fun.

Does anyelse think goon gumpas is like a happy hardcore
track(cheesy euro techno symths?)

Like I said its cliche.
