so... you guys actually read them and after that consider
the purchase of a certain album? huh..

i read reviews very seldom. i do not want to have any sort
of a mental picture given to me by some review. there are a
very few bands i have found trhough reading reviews (finnish
band super is one of them).

can a bad review actually prevent you from buying an album?

ok, so finding new artists can be tough if one does not
follow reviews. i find mine via friends mentioning, my fav
artists giving props to some others etc. not by some
faceless reviews :( maybe thats why i am so late in all new
releases (ganz graf? huh? when did that come out?)

and randomness in music purchasing often leads to a nice
broadening of musical tastes. hell, i wouldn't have found
detroit techno sound without accidently buying sub-urban
knight vinyl...

so.. why you read reviews? do you really get something out
of them? neetta no understand.

i like reading reviews - not to let it change my opinion but
to know how other people think about it

and yes, before-hand

well, I do it the other way, I buy something, I listen to
it, and then I read some review to compare with my
impressions...

i dont trust reviews of most idm. i remember looking online
for drukqs reviews and loads of people saying stuff like oh
its all been done before, piano pieces are john cage clones
and it is uninspiring... but i felt that it is a brilliant
composition of many different styles and speeds of music. i
really liked it, but most reviews said it was only so-so. if
you know the reviewer, then you can look at the review
objectivly, otherwise rely on people you know who have heard
the album.

I read reviews so I can regurtitate the observations of
people smarter than I. and without having to buy the albums.

Repitiveness is a problem in most reviews. This is how most
electronic music review look now a days.

"blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah, blah laptop,
blah blah blah Aphex Twin, blah blah blah MAX/MSP, blah blah
blah blah organic blah blah, micro blah blah website, blah
blah blah electronica, blah blah blah BOC blah remix, blah
blah mind-twisting blah blah blah blah original hamster,
blah blah blah tigerbeat6."

i read reviews to see what kind of stuff is it, if it sounds
good i check it out and then if i like it i buy it

i like the reviews where certain artist is compared with
another, it just make it easier to get an impression...

you looked wrecked!

I read reviews in a magazine called sidewalk, they just
review electronic music, weird hip hop and death metal. I
got some really good recommendations from them.

Drukqs is a revolution but many of "revievers" say: "oh no!
aphex stopped his evolution, he's still good but not as
sometime..." Bullshit! Aphex is one of very few artists
still going forward. And if you think different then give mi
the title of one track better than Vordhosbn or melphace5 or
168bmprmx...of course if you are knowleged about this kind
of music...

pitchfork used to give great reviews but now i can't trust
them anymore. as soon as the band has been hyped by them
they decide to give their second effort a dreadful review
whatever the album's merits are. =sigur rós=björk=múm

laaa. she doesn't look at all like me :D and that goofy pic
is old. i seldom am so pissed nowadays. thursday is the
graduates day at school and people will be like that. i
however will not participate since my dear classmates
haven't told me anything about the thingy. i guess they just
hate me so much they don't even want to embarrass me.

point me to a good site so i can read reviews about records
i already have.

fuck reviews

what makes a reviewer credible? what makes them
knowledgeable? what gives them taste?

you are your best reviewer. It's a fucking joke that these
guys have jobs.

it's all opinion. everyones opinion varies and is different.
That's what makes individuals unique.

I read pitchfork talking down drukqs.... and what makes that
guy knowledgeable? If he had the slightest fucking clue
maybe he'd be making his own music.

yeah mofo!

i read before buying to have a slight impression (but i
don't 100% rely on them, i listen to sound samples or mp3s
before buying too...), and then after to see what other
people think of it.

i often think that albums having five stars out of five in
professional reviews are overrated (four, or four and a half
i prefer)

i actually dont bother with stars
i only read reviews to get an impression what kind of music
is it
