"who is it?" is just 1 song, not an ep, and it'll prolly
remain unreleased for years..

far from sufficient even.

more popular? >:[

She did one song with bogdan and it sucked! I read
somewhere she's working with Jake Davis (a programmer) and
Mark Bell in the next few months..

no no, that song is wonderful, despite the lack of quality
recordings. though i heard that the live version doesn't
resemble the studio version musically.

how/where did you hear it? i'm only aware of the live
version (which is co-written by bogdan but never performed
live with him).

offline chambre noire from Iceland on 2003-02-11 00:57 [#00550270]
Points: 2515 Status: Lurker

no no, the live version that she plays is not at all the
bogdan-version, it's a remake by matmos. apparently she
thought bogdans version was too brutal and harsh. i knew the
girl that makes bjork.com ...

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2003-02-11 01:00 [#00550271]

i've read in interviews that she really loves the song but
it would stand out too much on vespertine and was "too
strong" to be a b-side. i also read that she just couldn't
afford the royalties fee bogdan wanted for the song
(thinking the song would be "huge" for her). but who knows,
people change their minds about things.

let me get this straight: björk has already recorded a song
called "who is it?" with bogdan raczynski? who's he? is that
song a remake of some song or a completely new one? i've
missed out on this one obviously...

some info on bogdan...

b. Poland. This experimental drum 'n' bass producer
records for Aphex Twin's label, Rephlex Records. Raczynski,
whose sound has been simultaneously described as wilfully
childlike, utterly peculiar and disarmingly intimate, uses a
mixture of electronics and traditional instrumentation and
his own falsetto singing to create a fractured and emotive
sound. His idiosyncratic, sincere recordings, created on an
old laptop computer, have attracted the interest of critics
across the musical spectrum, from dance music to folk and
classical. His recordings are also remarkable for their use
of electronic beats and sounds with Eastern European
influences and instruments, such as folk accordion and
harmonica.

777 You should get "Samurai math beats" firstly. It's the
essence of BOgdan's music.

"who is it?" is an original song by bogdan and bjork, not a
cover (to answer your question). "sucky" or not i wanna hear
it, sounds fun.

Björk rips off electronic music. I bet well soon see a BoC
& Björk collabo, cuz BoC are currently two of the most
respected producers right now....bla

titsworth : i already did, read again ..

monoid: rips off? i see it more as a collaboration-thing ,
and a boost in the musical carreers for the people she works
with . it's not like she's forcing people to work with her
..
boc + björk ? why not!

bitch please. besides, no one takes boards of canada
seriously. they used to be a joke in the electronic
community, now thanks to the wonder of advertisements and
heavy promotion, even indie kids can sneer at their cliched
silliness and pointlessness...

am i totally gone or wasn't the new "Who Is It?" song
(Matmos version) going to be released as an ep?

she might've whispered that into your ear as a "sweet
nothing" cos it's certainly not public knowledge.

maybe it'll fit in with the new album, those bjork.com
studio clips are really weird. i could imagine it being a
more logical inclusion on an album like that. but the mp3
thing is also an exciting prospect. mention it to her next
time you chit-chat with her, chambre noire.
