Hey.. I'm trying to broaden my electronic horizons a bit..
Can anyone offer me their recommendations for venetian
snares or BoC songs? Thanks.

ZT

"higgins ultra low track glue funk hits 1972-2006" &
venetian snares - printf (shiver in eternal darkness) are
the only two albums i can stand from VS right now. i had
four more but i couldn't stand those.

237 0894 all the way baby!! :)

doll doll doll is by far the best.
higgins is fun, 2370894 gets boring easily, printf has some
excellent tracks but also a lot of filler, making orange
things is ridiculously over the top and songs about my cats
is very nice.
winter in the belly of a snake sounds great (haven't got it
yet, damn mail order!)

lol 237 boring ? doll doll has three good tracks, higgins is
good, and btw. for all you snares collectors, there is a
track @ criminals 2 from funk "snakes" ;)

GeoGaddi by Boards of Canada is their best IMO.

start with

venetian snares - doll doll doll
boards of canada - music has the right to children

dont start with doll doll doll. There are some good songs on
it like "Dollmaker" but overall Songs About my Cats is way
better. If you are new to the VS scene, doll doll doll will
only scare you away, save it for later if you like VS.

Also get Geogaddi, Twoism, and Music has rights to children.
You choose.

magiker.. you said you can't stand some venetian snares
anymore.. why is that

I listened to geogaddi for the first time last night.. it
really is very good. a lot of it sounds the same, but that
gives it a unifying, cohesive feel as one work. that is a
very good album.. w/ a very warm feeling to it

I agree that Dollx3 is slightly harsher than some of his
other releases, and I found Printf overly long. Go with
Higgins or WITBOAS first then Songs About My Cats (more
abstract) and then check out the rest if you are still
interested.

As for BoC, I'd suggest going in chronological order.
Starting with Twoism would have been far better than hearing
it after all their other releases like I did. BTW Hi Scores
= genius.

BoC songs? Kid for Today or 1969 (popular choice).

No idea about Venetian Snares, I'm getting Higgins bla bla
and nothing else.

making orange things would be his most hardcore album, but
it's certainly not his best. you might want to start with
doll doll doll instead, which is still pretty damn hardcore.

snares

Geogaddi is really good.. but mabey it might be cool to
start with a beatiiful place out in the counrty since it
only have 4 songs
