:) pretty good jivver! getting reacclimated to my new
semester at school; more difficult classes means lots more
reading.. for History of Music i have to write a performance
analysis, so i attended a sweet classical concert last
saturday night. ever heard of the composer karol
szymanowski? i hadn't either, but just phenomenal stuff.
lots of tremolo effects and experimental composition
structures.

if you're up for it i think you can help me with one of my
papers! it's open ended so i can pretty much cover any
musical topic.

anyway, what's new? is it too cold to sail right now?

let me know the track listing when you get it. dan wants to
get busta rhymes and leann rimes on the same song; busta did
his part and leann wants to be on it too but her managers
and label are iffy about it.

thanks. i don't remember what it's specifically on right now
cos it's not due for a while. but it's for "the history of
music" and it's open ended, so i was thinking i could talk
about some of the 90s stuff people like lfo, afx, ae,
mu-ziq, etc. helped revolutionize. our textbook kinda stops
at stockhausen as far as electronic stuff goes, so it'll be
an interesting read for the professor (who is a music nut,
like us).

I'm seeing the Neptunes on the 14th I think, I saw claude
young Dj last friday in leeds which was cool as he does
allsorts of turntablism but with techno tracks (that sort of
thing usually sounds crap but he is brilliant!) I saw
Soulwax a few weeks ago....Pink Grease, a sort of
punk/electronic band and add N to X the other week...there's
loads of stuff going on at the moment oh yes and ikara cult
which was fun live..

sounds like you've had a fun time :) ever talked to dj
qbert? nicest musician on the planet, for real.

for the N.E.R.D. concert you're gonna get to hear a couple
new songs, including "locked away" (has a 1940s swing feel
to it) and another, name escapes me.

I think my friend played me that one...I don't know where he
got it from...is it a bit 'jazzy'? I saw them last year and
it was really good, Kelis came on for the last bit.

kelis rules. did you hear the song she did on the red hot +
riot aids benefit? (it's mostly a collection of fela kuti
covers, but the kelis song is an original). anyway, she did
the song w/ doc, esthero and res' collaborator.

there are a couple leaked N.E.R.D. studio demos. i have
"locked away" (it fades out though) and i have the first few
seconds of the other one i mentioned. this guy RunToTheSun
on slsk has them both. unfortunately soulseek is useless to
me now cos my school cut downloads down to almost 0k/sec.
anyway yea, "locked away" is the jazzy one.

that's the best avatar ever!!! cheers tits! I'll have a
look into that kelis track...

it's called "so be it" and the cd is "red hot + riot: a
tribute to fela kuti". definitely pick it up, it has some
scorching tracks like talib kweli, dead prez, bilal, and
fela kuti's afrobeat band doing "schuffering and shmiling"
w/ new lyrics. lots of great performers honoring fela kuti's
music and an excellent cause (aids research and treatment).

glad you like the avatar! check out the email reply i sent.
i need to watch a documentary for class, so i'll catch you
later :)
