welcome to pot theory 101, please feel free to add theories of your own to this thread.
my theory is that pot can be used to break other habits or addictions which are more expensive than itself.
what you do is set your goal for the thing you'd like to work on getting rid of, hold out for as long as possible, then get so massively stoned to the point where all around you seems to be taking an incredibly long time compared to the usual.
this then enables you to keep your mind off your other problems for the hardest part of the withdrawl process while you try to stay awake and do things for as long as possible.
then go to sleep, and stay in bed for a while when you wake up. now you will be experiencing severe withdrawl, but it's not a good idea to toke again as you will still feel the same.
for this time, probably about 24 hours, avoid people, they will only piss you off and ask you what's wrong, then sleep again.
when you wake up you will still feel withdrawl, people will still piss you off, but by this stage you should have the strength to get over it.
so there it is, 3 days of hell for a much better you.

but wouldn't it be even healthier, strictly physically speaking at least, to get some excercise, not smoke and sort the shit out in a normal way?
Not being critical, but three days with no human interaction, drug induced depression and sleeping don't seem to the the recipe to fix any of lifes problems.
In fact, I think you are only living them out more.
just my $.02

no offence taken, just this way's more fun. oh yeah and get stoned with friends somewhere close to your house, and walk home as part of the trying to do things phase.

maybe I just don't see what daemons you could be trying to escape by sleeping, avoiding people, and getting stoned.
I mean, aren't those the daemons you should be fighting? And if you have worse ones, ones you know you need to get over, shouldn't you be in a hospital?

you should read the letter to the british journal of addiction which william burroughs wrote. This guy knows far better than any of us - he took pretty much every drug under the sun during his lifetime, and took his experiences down pretty methodically.
Btw, that's a stupid idea.

this is the best stoner topic yet!
ok dudes, my pot theory:
'pot' is the flower of cannabis. when smoked or otherwise ingested it's effects on the consciousness can range from a numbing of the internal and external senses to heightening the internal and external sensitivites. both short and long term effects vary from individual to individual and from trial to trial, depending on the individual's biology, history, psychology, and the setting of the trial.
like fire, the internet and any other form of technology, cannabis is neither the key to enlightenment nor the key to humanity's doom. sweeping statements made about the plant's inherent good or bad qualities and a failure to acknowledge the subjective nature of the potential of the use of cannabis implies an unwarranted, unscientific bias.
