I can't verify this of course, but a posting here
says that soulseek has been served an injunction by the
RIAA.

While we wait, let's keep meeting at the opennap server.
Email me at the address in my profile for an account.

xnap is the "best" but it's not quite finished and
requires Java 1.3

winmx works also, but is "cranky" to say the least
and a lot of people hate the interface. It has a large user
base.

audiognome is an older client, but some people prefer it
over the others.

None of them contain spyware, as far as I know.

I'll give the Java one a try.

are there any reliable websites which state the law, in
relation do with file sharing programs/servers/etc?

I'm guessing these laws vary from country to country too.

slsk will be back, down for about 3 days while they switch
providers. the RIAA had nothing to do with this.

HEY!

Panic for nothing dammit. Still, it's good it made me get
off my ass and look for alternatives.

Xnap is pretty smooth and it uses KDE icons. *sniff* I miss
linux. This weekend I should try to install the ALSA drivers
for my sound card again...

news from NIR (creator of soulseek:Nir schrieb am
04.02.2003 um 23:23: - löschen
I would like to tell you that it is true that RIAA has
gotten an injunction to temporally shut me down. I am
looking to move my server to other parts of the world where
the RIAA will not have as much control over this. But for
the near future SoulSeek will be down

Thank you for your patients and support. SoulSeek will live
on

baahh

Good to hear it's just a temporary thing. I thought it was
kind of dumb to keep the slsk server in the USA in the first
place.

I'll make those new accounts now.

mylittlesister: I don't know of any such websites, but I'd
be interested in seeing them too.
