The Autechre Difference

In the last thread about Draft7.30, someone mentioned that
the "new BoC and VS will rock more".

I'll give that the new VS will rock (not so sure about the
BoC). But my point is I pretty much know what the VS and
BoC are going to sound like. VS - will be crazy violent
breaks with something menacing over top. BoC will be moody
melodramatic instrumental hip hope.

The Autechre difference is I didn't have any idea that
Draft7.30 would sound like this. They always keep me
guessing while continuing to astound.

My moma always used to say "Autechre is like a box of
choclates, you never know what your gonna' get."

Ae have their 'trademark sound' you find in almost every one
of their (at least the latest) releases... and i'm pretty
sure it will be in draft7.30 too...

Forest Gump said that?!?!

She also told me that crocadiles are angry because they have
all those teeth but no toothbrush.

i have been digging noiseish and analogish stuff lately.

i like draft 7.30

it's not that amazing though, honestly. i agree with what
zeus has been saying:
it's good, but not groin grabingly good. i didn't need new
underwear after i heard it.

i DO think the next snares album will be surprising...

winter in the belly of a snake was a huge push in a
different direction for mr. funk, IMO.

plus its gonna be all sex.

unless you're talking about find candice, instead of
nymphomatriarch.

find candice is a b-sides/outtakes album from doll doll
doll. so yeah, it'll be probably alot like all of those
songs.

a remix album. suh-weet

anyone who likes autechre live should fall in love with
draft 7.30

and if you ask me, it contains several demonic attacks
throughout the album!

autechre release date

and why does this take priority over the afx
date/tracklisting :0)...........Phobiazero?

blow some cash.

roygbivcore, give it a few days
honestly, keep listening to it, after a day or 2, it will
finally "click"

trust me, it even took me a day or two to fully get into
it.

WOWSA,
JUST KEEP LISTENING, IT WILL HAPPEN!

It took me sometime to "GET" Autechre but when it did...
well, it did. ;p
Which reminds me, I dont have Garbage, Basscadet remixes or
Peel Sesh 1... they any good?

offline thethirdball from Polly Pisspot (Canada) on 2003-02-05 06:02 [#00541723]

Garbage is just another reminder of the Autechre difference.
The last track - ambient number - is perhaps the most
beautiful track to come out in the past 15 years.

Basscadet remixes - take a pass

Peel Sess. 1 - pretty good.

The sexual references in Venetian Snares stuff is all old to
me. Bondage? Fuck that Mr Funk, get Hecate (Is that the
correct name?) to do some Scat with you and sample that! You
can be strapped up with your mouth trapped open and she can
give you a bit of C&BT until you are a good little toilet
slut and swallow it ALL.

VS has some great music out, Not all of it does it for me
but the lad has some great skill. }:>

damn

another thing to put me off checking out venetian

s&m samples are for kids :)

you know what im saying?

well its all personal taste

but myself, you know, deliberately offensive or 'evil'
content just strikes me as being really try-hard.

another autechre difference. they dont need to do any of
that to get me all emotional. some of their stuff just
breaks my heart, in the best way possible :)

offline Spikee Dragon from Newcastle (United Kingdom) on 2003-02-05 06:27 [#00541760]

S&M is different from Bondage tho they fit together quite
well I guess. The sexual undertones are not prominent enough
to cause trouble unless you look out for it. Glue Funk Hits
was a record I very much needed in my collection and sexual
reference free (unless I have missed something). Very good
shit. Funk knows his stuff.

"they dont need to do any of that to get me all emotional"

This is a very admirable quality of AE. I love their
minimalistic yet interesting cover artworks and their
consistency. Unfortunately I don't really go for them much.
I'm gonna get more by them but I'm in no hurry.

Each of our albums is hand assembled by devoted craftsmen
out of the finest, carefully selected all-natural materials,
then aged in 120 year old oak casks.

That's the Autechre(tm) difference.

Great thing about Snares is, you don't like something he
does, ten minutes later he releases something you do like.
