Anyone know of any plugin for the likes of wavelab etc that will repair audio clipping? Like when you record something too loud and it distorts on the high amplitudes.

Well, I need something to repair clipping that's already happened y'see, not just prevent it from happening. Compressing or normalising doesn't work when there's already distortion in the audio. At least I can't get it to work. :/

oh i get what you mean
i dunno how you'd get rid of that
i'd have thought that compression/normalization would have helped at least....
don't ask me how to do compression though....i've never been able to get my head round it! lol
i can do it to a certain extent
but i dunno if i've got it right have a listen at my site for a taste of what my compression abilities are like
i think that you might have to re sample your audio though mate
don't quote me though!
hope it works out

pretty damned difficult to fix copletely seeing as the sound wave has been broken.
id try turning the volume way down, and then trying to compress it back up to around -6db. it may, just may, smoothen the break over a little. then you might be able to do something about fixing it.

A limiter would be to prevent clipping in the first place? I have a recording (several actually) where the recording level was set too high and it's clipped in places. I can't re-record and I can't prevent it happening again, as I have no influence over whoever gives me the recordings. If it's just one or two clicks I can re-draw over the wave peaks using goldwave, but there's far too many in some of these gigs.
Will a limiter help in this situation? If so, tell me how! I have Soundprobe 2 which has a clipping repair tool, but I'd like to find a better one.
I'll check out SF, thanks Bremzen, not bothered with that before since I have Goldwave, Soundprobe and Wavelab.
