Am I the only lamer here that likes wrestling? I've been
watching it since I was 4, and I never miss a Raw or
Smackdown. Bret Hart is a god and I'm sure he could kick any
of your asses.

Should I be made fun of?

I always thought it was be great to have Come to Daddy as
your entrance music.

i used to watch it-some 15 years ago when it all started, it
was pretty cool in those times
i havent seen it for like 8-10 years now
surely its different these days

wrestling always seemed really childish to me,. but I know a
35yo court judge that boast's his obsession with wrestling,.
so what the hey!!

Though I've fallen off over the past year, I am a life long
fan. It's nothing to be ashamed of - it's mindlessly
delicious!!

Look at it this way, Bob Mould of Husker Du fame was writing
storylines for WCW for a few years just before they were
bought out. If it's good enough for Bob Mould, it's good
enough for me!!

wrestling is comprised of loud shaved gorillas wearing
thongs and mullets.

but that's just my perspective. support whatever pleases
you.

I got to shake hands with Bret Hart a few years back, when
the WWF was on tour in the UK - thats one of my claim to
fames!

I used to watch it, but as of recent there's too much side
chatting and not enough action...I haven't really watched it
properly for two years now...

Bret is God... but I already said that in my first post.

He actually had a STROKE, and his family members are dying
left and right, sometimes literally IN THE RING... the Harts
are cursed.

I actually stopped watching for a couple of years, but I've
recently got back into it... right after Hogan came back a
little over a year ago. I have immense respect for
wrestlers... not only do they put themselves through hell
300 nights a year, but they actually have to play the crowd
and put on a SHOW as well as getting their asses kicked...
and it's scripted, but not ''fake''. The scripted thing
makes it even MORE impressive, sicne they're putting on a
pretty involving SHOW. The badguys (heels) in wrestling make
a living from MAKING PEOPLE HATE THEM... who else does that?
Other than annoying gimmicky comedians? What a great job...

Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Eddy Guerrero and Kurt Angle
are the best in the business right now.

I couldn't believe it when Owen Hart died....that must've
been horrible to of been at that performance....

I used to like it in the days of when Shawn Michaels and
Diesel, would torment the likes of Razor Ramone...that was
good. Especially I liked it when Shawn Michaels wouldn't
fight other when he was Intercontinental Champion, because
he thought they were unworthy opponents for the 'heartbreak
kid'.....it was at that point that Gorilla Moonsoon had his
belt revoked....but Shawn Michaels had another one
made......

....great stuff!!

Remember the casket matches with Yokuzuna, when the
Undertaker poured petrol over it and burned it!!?!??!
Amazing!!

I used to watch wrestling when I was little. I stopped about
4 years ago when I realized it was kinda rediculous,
although I like watching that show tough enough to see those
kids get their ass beat trying to get a contract.

Ophecks- how do the scripted matches work? Like does it say
Jericho wins after 10 min now do your stuff? Im interested.

They communicate with each other VERY subtley, and have
''spots'' in the matches, things that are planned out
indvance... a lot of it is improvised depeding on the
situation or what the crowd wants. These guys work hard to
get these things right. If you slip up and they do one move
when you're expecting another, you could get seriously
hurt... they have to communicate with each other. Whether it
be whispers or taps or signs, anything... the endings are
planned out in advance of course, but if something goes
wrong (Steve Austin broke his neck in a match and they had
to end it differently than planned... breaking your neck
tends to change things), they have alternate endings.

Apearently she did go to court but decided to sue the latch
company rather than the harness company. The latch company
told the press she's just going after the biggest bank. The
judge approved the case. She's asking for; or was awarded 12
mill. I dont remember wich one.

The movie "Beyond the Mat" was great stuff!!! Every
wrestling fan should see it. The focus is on Mick Foley,
Terry Funk and Jake Roberts. It paints a pretty bleak
picture of the kind of life these guys lead. Foley beating
the hell out of his body and loving it - Funk still coming
back to the ring in his fifties for more abuse - and Jake
the Snake, the one time superstar, who now wrestles at
county fairs, smokes crack, and has a daughter who seems to
hate him. Great stuff.

Jerry Lawler is a funny commentator...he was fun to what in
the ring as well. Does anyone remember when he used to take
the piss out of the 'Stinking Hart' family, as he put it?
He'd ridicule Bret Harts mother and father at ring
side....hehhee. Or the time when he'd come to ringside with
his arm in a fake plaster cast!!

I use to watch wrestling and I'll get back into it if and
when they start to get some good writing/scripts in the
show. For me, it was really exciting when Mick Foley was in
there taking terrible beatings, Undertaker was still in the
grimmer side (of course he had to change cause he's been
playing that role for a long time). When there was no
"What!" chanting for Stone Cold.

I haven't been keeping up with WWF err...WWE so if the
writing has been getting better..lemme know.

I don't mind wrestling myself, find it quiet amusing :) I
went thru a WWF phase myself.

There was something called EWA Wrestling in my home town
last week which I was able to catch. It was cool, this was
all held in this shitty night club venue (old church) and in
the 'Hardcore' match, they went mental all around the venue!
:D There was a wrestler named 'Jesus' in that hardcore
match, he kicked arse!
