Hello,
I once heard that Richard James did a track using nothing but sounds he could make with a soda can. Does anyone know if this is true and, if so, the release it's on? thanks.

are you saying the coke can track is on windowlicker? i sorta doubt that--none of the three tracks sounds much like a soda can. or where you referring to the diarrhea sample?

Everything's being moved to this site (eventually) so it covered a vast range of artists and not just Autechre and Aphex. To be honest it's better because on aphextwin.nu , the MB usually had topics about say, Autechre or Boards Of Canada, etc.

you'll probably be talking about Radioboy aka Matthew Herbert.
He uses household items and samples them to make entire tracks.
I saw him do this live and it was fuckin nuts. He used Gap clothes, McDonalds Food, Cereal Boxes...and yes coke cans.

the story is more like rich talking in a to the interviewer about how he and his mates used to do tracks with any objects they could find, he was explaining how it was hard to have a bassdrum sound out of a can but that a carpet is good. i dont think you'll ever hear the tracks

it sounds like there is some tin can tapping used as one of the sounds in Alberto Balsam, but it's quite the assumption to assume that it's a COKE can HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! hehehehe...

richard does all his tracks with a computer and a modified coke can! and the coke company probably sends him a big fat paycheck! i smell double-dealing and corporate corruption!

I often wondered that as well, about what and where that track was. Finally I realized that it was probably the reviewer making some attempt at humor that characterizes what he knows about RDJ's quirky persona.. meaning, he probably meant 'RDJ has shown us that he's the only one that can and would make a track out of the sound of tapping on a coke can'

there is an autechre track that sounds like it uses a can.. track 9 - "caliper remote" on lp 5 (the solid black cd cover one).. it sounds like the opening tab being strummed or flicked.. but it has other sounds in too..
