what sort of music do you HATE ?

Is it as simple as that? Child prostitutes know what they
are doing and by your logic they'd be deserving of our
contempt too.

Music either works or it doesn't, for indefinable subtle
reaons you'd have to vivisect yourself to understand.

The best conductor and orchestra playing music by your
favorite composer can suck ass on a bad day, and three guys
who have been playing punk music for a month between them
can play something that can blow you away.

There is even good Country/Western music. Used to be a bar
near me that had the BEST saturday night country band, with
a guitarist who just floored me. He should have been playing
to adoring crowds of thousands instead of a small bar full
of surly drunken urban cowboys, a woman with warts all over
her face and a coked-out dwarf (I was none of the above).

that's different, they're kids

i'm talking about people who are over 16 (such as christina
aguilera, holy valance)

they CAN make their own mind up, their OWN decisions

Yeah gotta go with Nacmat on this one, I only hate music
that's bad. Except happy hardcore, specifically. Happy
hardcore is just pure revolting.

"I just bought ventolin ep and remixes

'ventolin' sounds just like the 'video version' right? cuz
i'm talking about the 'ventolin (video version)' on ICBYD. i
love all the remixes that accompany it - i find each remix
10 times better than it's original. all it is is one long
high-pitched tone with metal-crushing beats and bassy
synths.

like this:

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
BOOM BOOM BOOM EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CHEH CHEHE
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
HEHCHEHEH BOOM BOOOM BOOM EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

for 4 MINUTES PLUS

Let me get this straight. Children do not know what
prostitution is, and so engage in it in complete ignorance.
But when a child turns 16 they suddenly have wonderful
insight and can make decisions unaffected by outside
pressures?

Has it not occured to you that young women are judged on
their physical appearance and that the pressure of the
industry points them in the direction of using their
sexuality to sell records?

I just think its out of order to label women 'sluts' when
you quite obviously don't have the first clue about what
women face.

i hate music made by people without real talent, but
boosted by million dollar investments by a record exec.,
suddenly becomes an artist. While the people with real
talent, fight to keep the faith and use all theyre money in
the the genuine interest of music

ah but you see i do

i'm not saying that ALL women in the music industry are
sluts

and i'm not saying that all children in prostitution don't
know what they're doing

those children who have only ever known prostitution in
their lives, and have been brought up to believe that it's
right don't know what it is that they're really doing...

i DON'T think christina aguilera was brought up to wear
tight thongs (which btw can DEFINATELY cause damage to
sensitive areas....women, i am TOTALLY for burning high
heels and shit...how do you managwe walking in them???) and
she was definately not brought up to wear skimpy outfits,
pouting at the camera

You're missing the point. You said female artists who wear
little clothing are sluts. That is called misogyny my friend
and it sucks.

well i apologise

i never meant to label ALL of them as sluts

i meant the ones who are similar to the likes of holy
valance and christina aguilera

i never meant to offend you, and i am honestly apolgising

it just angers me that people use that as a way of getting
people to buy their music

but like someone has said to me in the past

"let the kiddies buy this crap, they don't determine what is
art, they determine what is not art"

I'm saying calling any woman a slut, whether they be Holly
Valance or Christina Aguilera or whoever. You are blaming
them for a culture in which women are forced to use their
bodies to make money.

I'm not after an apology, I'm just trying to point out your
sexism.

but can you not see, that when the record label said to holy
"look, we wanna market you this way...we want to do music
videos where you're showing off your knickers etc etc
etc...what do you think?" she could have easily said "well,
actually no, because i wouldn't wanna do that

i'm just saying that she must have had a choice.....NOBODY
can physically force her to do what she does in her videos

Yes, but the overwhelming pressure is to go along with it;
its widespread in our culture. Female sexuality, or the
objectification of it, sells.

But why blame the victims and not the male execs who push
them into doing such things?

you're absolutley right

it is in part (a pretty big part) the fault of teen mags,
record labels, flims etc etc etc

who are continually pushing this image, this need to be
"slim, sexy etc etc etc"

i mean, all you can see nowadays is kids between the ages of
9-12 wearing clothes that i think personally, shouldn't be
worn by kids so young

i think it's saddening that kids so young are being told if
you don't dress a certain way and look a certain way you're
not normal

do you know what i mean?

you're absolutley right, it is the fault of the execs and
stuff and kids mags and things

I hate it when parents complain about eminem rapping about
violence, then go out and by a song called "Dirty" or "Booty
Call" for thier 9 year old !

Well then why call women who are forced to pander to sexism
sluts?

I'm not gonna go on about this as everyone else is already
bored of me hijacking the thread. I've made my point. Sorry
peeps.

exactly!!!!!!

it's not okay for their kids to go out and buy music that
is, quite frankly making fun of the industry, but it's okay
for them to buy music that pushes this "sex sex sex" image

risen so much !

i am just saying that if they didn't agree to doing it, it
wouldn't exist would it?

it's both parties to blame...the labels and the "artists"

if the "artists" refused to pander to the image, then the
labels wouldn't have an image to push

exactly

it's the media's fault

it's saddening, because while i was at school, everyone used
to brag about the fact that they weren't virgins etc etc
etc

and i know for a fact that it's still the case (if not more
so)....it's just really sad
