are there any tips for making soulseek run smoother? i have 300 odd memory and a broadband connection but it still gets jerky and holds when doing searches, i just wondered if tileing the windows or if anyone knew a good tip to make it maybe run using less memory??
any help will be greatly appriciated thanks

SS is kinda like that...
I think it gets jerky because it's dealing with modem users...no real way around it really; it'll get better as more people get faster lines, I guess...
If you're on cable you might want to look into setting a kb limit on uploads, as leaving at 0, the default, can seriously eat up your download speed...if I'm doing dls or other web stuff, I set mine at 16kbs and that works well; have a play, it's different on every machine...

just restart it every once in a while. if it runs constantly, it just keeps eating up more and more ram. sometimes, if i leave it on for a few days, it gets up to using 250+ mb of ram

The only tip I have is to SORT YOUR FUCKING FILES OUT, god there some muppets out there, I can't understand how they can find anything on their hard drive. Either that, or if you're on a fast connection do search's for .mp3 or .avi, shit like that... :)
and I don't think it would be soulseek if it actually ran smoothly with no problems :P
