Autechre albums - weigh it up

I feel like buying another Autechre album to add to the
ones I've got, whcih are 'Incunabula', 'Amber' and 'Tri
Repetae'. Which should I get next? I hear LP5 and EP7 are
excellent...

I'd say go for the Garbage and Anvil Vapre EPs.

I stand corrected. Buy all the EPs first, especially the two
mr whale mentioned.

amber is my fav. Ae release
if you like amber you could try anti EP, it's a bit in the
same style and excellent imo :)

lp5 is good, even if confield is better methinks
(confield is my fav Ae after amber... ex aequo with AeP)

don't go with ep7 unless you're really sure you like it...

Chiastic Slide is good... but nothing tops Incunabula in my
opinion.

LP5 and Tri Repetaee (the one with the Garbage EP).

If u like to get some brain massage try Confield but thats a
difficult one.

What was the first Autechre album? I'm thinking of getting
some early stuff to start with.

I only have Gantz Graf on CD but I have LP5 on vinyl as a
free gift from Warpmart.

"you cant go wrong with autechre"

Some of their stuff makes me want to die but I want to check
the early stuff out. I'll seek Incunabula I think.

Thanks. :)

Gantz Graf!!!

Set aside some money...you'll probably be buying their
complete discography once you're hooked

I like Confield-the only Autechre album I liked instantly
(unlike some here) and still love today.

go for EP7, it's one of their best, i play it a lot more
than chiastic slide

offline Spookyluke from United States on 2003-01-30 16:01 [#00534858]

Just get Confield. Here's why:
beats are out of this world.
There are great chords throughout.
Some of the tracks are among AUtechre's most puzzling.
It's the most recent of their work, except Gantz Graf. It's
definitely worth getting into because you can sorta get a
feel for their style. Confield is less of a giant leap
forward than a retrospective lookback at their career. The
melodies of Incunabula and Amber, mixed with the nuances of
Tri Repetae, Chiastic Slide, and the beats of Lp5--it's
great!

Tri Repetae isn't bundled with those in the UK!

ep7 isn't that good imo

i'd suggest lp5 or gantz graf (only if it has the dvd... you
probably wouldn't appreciate it as much with out the
video...)

That's right - you need to get Tri Repatae ++ (us version)
that has those EPs included. Lovely two disc set, and my
first Autechre purchase.

that already.

I think it's their best yet. Like Confield, but a bit less
trapped sounding. The beats are a bit less weird, and some
of the tracks have very nice melodies.

I think he already has tri repeate
