Everyone asleep???
Hey tomorrow I will be back.
I'll bump this thread if it isn't alive anymore.
I really would like to continue this discussion :)

Isn't the universe proven to be expanding from the point of
the big bang? Or am I behind the times on astrowhatnotology?
I'd say that there's nothing beyond the universe as it's not
possible to know. If the universe is expanding, there must
be a point where the very first matter expelled from the
bang still speeds away from the centre, so that would be the
edge of the universe. But since nothing can travel faster
than light (allegedly - so far, science fans!) then nothing
is beyond it. So far the edge of the universe isn't known to
have hit anything coming the other way, so beyond it is
nothing. You can't get there, so nothing can be there.
Alternatively, the universe is inside a mathematical
structure, like a multidimensional sphere so that it wraps
round on itself.
Or maybe it's inside one of those silver holograms on my
MasterCard.
In tuesdays episode of Star Trek the universe was inside
Beverly Crusher's head, but I don't think that's right.
Speaking of which, did anyone really, genuinely laugh the
first time they watched the Next Generation and heard of a
doctor called "Crusher"? I know I didn't.

Haha, that thought of yours about the dog sounds like a
cross between Final Fantasy X and my favorite Cowboy Bebop
episode.

Reality is only a product of ones perception. Therefore,
when the perception is altered, you're in another reality.

The universe is an average of a bunch of peoples
perceptions. How fun is that?

Although it would be neat to know, does it really matter?

Don't we have enough things to figure out about where we are
right here?

The size of the universe is beyond numerical and geophysical
comprehension.
There is no way to figure it out.....no where to start.

it's not unhealthy to gather an appreciation of the
mysteries. i reckon if some of leaders woke up and decided
life was beautiful, mysterious, even magical, they might
alter some of their decisions to be more harmonious with the
world. now these people aren't any more or less human than
us so i'm guessing that the power is what distorts their
ability to revere all life as beautiful and sacred (pardon
my blasphemous use of the b and the s word).
