thanks for listening, guys.. :)

neetta: ha ha! good memory!! :P hope you liked it..

hobbes: nice description!

mickey: Lidell, you say..? I've only heard a few tracks of
his on a few Warp samplers.. mm.. I was hoping it would
rock.. :)

sadist: I've only heard snippets, didn't like it that much.
actually, the "leading" samples I had made about half a year
ago (the percussion, the jazzy bits) - they just kept
floating in my head. so I decided to pull them out again. :)

beginning of it.

delicious!!!

Great track.........

dig the level of nuttyness, not goofy but all out nuts, Cage

check out my thread called "Music!".......

it's got a track of mine hidden within it.

keep creating.

you took the long way to make this. you could have turned on
the washing machine and switched the volume of a static
radio station on and off. the panning was the only
interesting thing. the rest would not be interesting to
aliens that came to earth in search of the whimsical obscure
interesting products of the universe.

i seriously wonder how you create your music qrter...

I listened to it yesterday and couldn't stand it... and now
today this thread came back to the frontpage of the mb, and
i decided to give it another chance... and now a few listens
later it's slowly beginning to grow on me.

The intro is really nice... alot more straightforward then
i'm used from your music :-p So i was quite surprised... and
then the sound suddenly drops, and only then the song really
starts. I like little things like that :-) Songs that are
surpristing and not straightforward.

But yeah... it's really quite good. What first sounded like
a lot of random sounds thrown together, it's now starting to
sound more coherent with each listen. The main melody is
just beautiful... and i love how organic it sounds. On your
site it says music is a small machine. With this track i
imagine a very old and rusty machine that is barely still
working...only just able to still produce sound. (as opposed
to alot of other electronic tracks that sound very "clean"
and crisp). But your music always seems a bit fuzzy, i like
that.

But ehr... oh yeah... how do you create something that takes
so long to get "into"... i wonder? (or was that just me)...

I can't imagine you coming up with a song and thinking: "nah
this is no good". And then after a while thinking: "no wait,
actually it's not bad!" ;-)
Or do you start out with a simple melody, and then build it
all the other stuff around it to make it less accesable.
Hm... oh well... to sum it up: i like it. Infact i think out
of all the tracks i heard from you, i think this is my
favourite.

I guess I agree with cyberquack.... he seems pretty cool,
unlike george castanza who seems really idiotic and lonely.

cyberquak: you took the long way to just say you didn't like
it - so I guess we're soulmates really.

glass-eater: I can see that (the messiness thing). um, not a
lot more I can say to that.. :)

surrounded: uh.. I don't really try to make music thats
specifically hard to get into at first and gets better with
each listen.. nor do I take something simple and try to make
it less accesible..
I guess I try to make it as accesible as possible to me - I
try to make what I would like to hear. and then I really
want to know whether other people like the same thing. um..
anyway, glad you like it.. :)

w M w: oh you are just a big purple SILLY!

qrter: hm... interesting. Maybe because you create these
tracks from scratch... you already know and like them, as
soon as they're finished. Whilst it takes someone like me a
couple of listens to hear the track in the same way you hear
it. Ohwell... ehr...nevermind :-) Just keeping making that
beautiful music,

wMw: Hey! That's not very nice of you :-(
What have i ever done to offend you? You big insensitive
ape!

Listening while I type...

Here we go I press play now!

---
Some nicely changed jazzy sound, repetetive, just as I like
it.
THere's some percussion in it.
Suddenly it's all gone.
Voices? I like the percussion going through it.
Waterish sounds.
Burbling indeeed!
I like it, but its more soundscaping i.m.o.
now there's some sea-like sound.
Random FX. I dont like that much, its too disturbing, too
loud maybe, allthough it's nice sound.
And after some noice the jazzy beat is back.
I like that jazzy sound the best, the saxophone-like sound
sounds like hornets flying around my head. :)
The playing between the loud and the soft parts doesnt
really convince me.
The end is near!!! The end is near!!! Chaos!!! The chaos
from the last 20 seconds is nice :).

Conclusion:

overall idea I get is that its a jazzy track with another
track glued in the middle.

I really like the middle part, the soundscaping thingy with
the underwatersounds. And the stereo burbling fx.

The intro and the end I dont find as good as the middle
part. You managed to really transform the jazzy beat into
something different and managed to keep the jazzy feel.

:)

cool though

didn't expect to see this pop up again.. :)

C738: "overall idea I get is that its a jazzy track with
another track glued in the middle"
- I can see how it
could seem like that. to me it feels like its 'in the right
place', but thats a very hard and fine line to tread..

sadist: I don't even have a dishwasher.. ;)

glass_eater: thats interesting.. I would say the last third
is much more messy and loud..

GreenT: you're not being rude..! you can say what you
like... :)

so I guess you have a feeling that there is structure
missing, or..? is it too messy..?

or to put it in other words - what do you see as a 'red

thoughts on this..)

Nice track. Very original and creative.

Rather than typing a bunch of shit, I would have to say my
review would sound similar to C738's review.

Question for the MB people: Why does qrter's track get tons
of responses, but when i release a new track, no one
notices. Maybe I should put more !!!! into my title :D
Anyways here is a shameless plug.
Dont be afraid to chew me into piece or tell me I suck. I
can handle it, as long as you stay constructive.

P.S. keep up the good work you music makers you!

mm..

well I just read your thread and am d/l the track now - I'll
reply in your thread..

one thing that does seem important in posting tracks: make
it clear in the topic title that it is a new track. when I
read "Open minded?" I think, "oh weathered is having a
discussion about whether people are openminded enough these
days" or something. the "make it look
interesting"-psychology doesn't really work in this
instant.

now, to listen to your track!

ik heb nu nog eens geluisterd maat, en 'k vind het wel
beestig goe je nummers, maar ik heb de indruk dat het niet
duidelijk is wat je wil overbrengen.
Ik weet echt niet waar je je structuur in steekt...

Wel man, I've listend again, and I think it's a real wicked
song, but I think it is not very clear what you are trying
to say...
I don't see where you put your structure

But that will only be because I'm blind at that point.

I quite sure you are indeed working with a structure, but I
can't see it !

the red line is how this relates to that, And it just seems
a very heavy kakafonie if you know what I mean

wow..I dig..I dig lots...I can see why Mickey was comparing
it to Lidell..(which btw..you are past due getting..Muddlin'

tune is like any other by you..wholly yours in inspiration
and invention...though it does bring to mindsome of John

semblence..oh..and now for some exclamations..

Points: 47414 Status: Moderator

GreenT: I see what you mean, but to me the structure is
quite clear. this is always a danger when using Cubase SX
(as I do) - while I'm making a track I simply SEE the
structure.. the kakafonie (as you call it) was worse - this
is like the fourth full mix. it could be because of my
mixing - I mix on headphones. you'll always hear more detail
in my tracks on headphones.. : s
um, and if you still don't hear it after a few listens I
guess you just don't hear it - nothing wrong with that, its
just not to your taste.

flea: your avatar made me laugh out loud (or "lol" as the
kids like to type these days, I believe..).
anyway, thanks for the praise. I'll give mr.Lidell's work
some more consideration and attention. John Zorn, you say..?
interesting.. however, I can't place the Techno Animal
reference. for the greatest part, I suspect, because I don't
know an outfit by that name..

C738: that you are not a 'kenner' is besides the point. your
opinions are no less valid. :)
