Saint Etienne - Pop as sience

I brought home Saint Etienne's latest album "Finisterre"
about a week ago and I've been listening to it a
billion-zillion times ever since! I'm totally hooked on
this! This is pop sience at its very best! If there was a
Nobel prize for pop they would surely be among the first to
receive it. And their cause IS truly a noble one too! You
don't see the Etiennes selling out for chart success, and
still they make some of the most radiofriendly music you can
ever imagine. Finisterre is a particularly amusing addition
to one of the most substantial discographies I've seen -
ever - in popular music. The retro theme that penetrates
this record is good fun and mixed - as it is so brilliantly
here - with the groups sensitivity for both classic and new
elements from the vastness of pop-music-culture, they manage
to create - yet again - a "nostalgia for an age yet to come"
- as the arrogant British accent announces between two of
the tracks on this album. They've done it again!

If you're not familiar with the works of Saint Etienne I
recommend the superb compilation "Smash the system", that
saw the light of day last year. Enjoy!!! Cheers!

Smash the System was cool. Haven't heard their new stuff.
Maybe i'll get it, copy it then take it back, saying "yeah I
got it as a present for someone but they've already got it"
urk, naughty...

Fox Base Alpha is one of their best, if you haven't heard
that.

Fox Base Alpha was their first album and is a deffinite
classic. Essential! The only album I don't care too much for
is "Good Humour" from '98
