TALK about CRAP JOBS!!!! oyeeeeee =0)
it is interesting and horrifying what people find disposable
these days, babies, animals, etc.......

garbology (gar-BOL-uh-jee)

noun

The study of a society or culture by examining what it
discards.

[Garb(age) + -logy.]
"Though garbology remains a relatively unplumbed subject,
several colleges and universities offer courses that look at
what people throw away and how it reflects who they are."

Tina Kelley, Class at N.Y.U. Looks for Deeper Meaning at
Fresh Kills, The New York Times, Mar 23, 2000.

Aw yeah, there was an article in an old National Geographic
about that... you'd be surprised how well fossilized hot
dogs hold up over time (must be those nitrites).

interesting concept

dobbin, why do you think it's an americanization of the word
? i've never thought of words as having a nationality,
except their origins sometimes. i'm curious why you think
that?

the most used meaning of the word garbage is the american
definition of kitchen waste or a dusbin as in garbage can.
america has bastardized the english language beyond
comprehension (no pun intended honest) to the point its hard
to understand sometimes

garbology is a bastardization of a bastardization, a fitting
description if only to 'fit in' with other related -ologies

btw there are plenty of words that only americans use, more
than anywhere else. which is amazing considering what is
approximating to english is spoken everywhere in the world

hehehhe

ohhhh believe me i have a british friend and he reminds me
all the time that i speak AMERICAN ......not ENGLISH....tee
hee, i tell him he's a SNOB and there is a REASON we broke
away from the ENGLISH way back when =b

thats prolly why language and words are so fascinating for
me, it's something that you can never completely know, soooo
much fun!!
