I've seen ONE review for Mary Star of the Sea, which is out
on tuesday.

Very positive review, not from a very great source, but it
got an A- on a standard scale.

Anyone have any other links to reviews? I'm buying it
anyway, but very how the album is being recieved.

oh I agree, but people never really warmed up to the
Pumpkins, and it was politcal and stupid and teenage
depression and alt/grunge.

Now he plays with a huge smile on his face, like this is
what he always wanted.

I don't doubt it will be produced nicely, I'm just super
curious how pop-america will recieve it.

well
the fashionable music now is the new garage...any band that
has a name that starts with "the"
since zwan doesnt start with "the" it will be supported by
old faithfulls like us

I vote for a name change to

"The Zwan"

make me mainstream!

according to some old thread that claims to have bill
corgans sn.. hes online

"theshadowssmile"

this little poem is in his profile
"some escape some door to open this path seems the blackest
but i guess it's the soonest but there in the clearing i
know you'll be wearing your young aching smile and waving
your hand can't go with my heart when i can't feel what's in
it i thought you'd come over but for some reason you didn't
glass on the pavement under my shoe without you is all my
life amounts to " unless its some hoax.. who knows

It will be my next music purchase most definetly... if for
nothing else for the special place in my soul Mellon Collie
and The Infinite Sadness has earned.

in many of the songs you hear the same Smashing Pumpkins
crunch, but it is very different. I really think this is
the band Corgan wanted to be in all along.

i downloaded mary star of the sea a week ago: it is
superb!!

there just isn't very much wrong with the album. it's all
very poppy though, but heavy still. it's upbeat; hardly a
minor chord detectable. jesus i/mary star of the sea is a 14
minute blast, reminding me more of tool or slint than of
smashing pumpkins. the only letdown for me is billy's
singing: anyone could do his parts, or so it seems...

"anyone could do his parts, or so it seems... "

really!?

I don't know anyone else that sounds like billy corgan.
Never have i listened to any other singer and thought: "hey,
that guy sounds a little like billy corgan!". He's just
totally unique. And one of the most unlikely voices to
become so famous :-)

exactly! on all previous corgan albums this has been the
case, just not with this one.....

well that's weird. I haven't heard the album yet, i'll check
it out and see if i feel the same.

Cool, so Rollingstone gave drukqs 1 star which actually
means 5 stars. And now they give Zwan 4 stars, which in
reality means 2 stars. That sounds about right.

im buying the album and dvd regardless if its either the
greatest cd of all time, or its just corgan and friends
farting into a mic....he will always be my favorite artist.

eh?? how do you figure that?

there was some controversy when that review appeared. the
reviewer says the album is 'almost a classic' but she gave
it 3 stars. it went up to 4 stars a day later.

i've heard from almost everyone that zwan is terrible and
most people only like them because they used to be huge
smashing pumpkins fans, and so they follow billy around

So what your telling me is that Rolling stone likes to
listen to an album once, give a review, and then change
their minds after a review is allready printed?

wait, aren't you a huge SP fan?

anyway, the zwan sound isn't very similar to SP stuff.

Terrible, that is a strong word for what no one can deny is
a group of 5 vastly talented musicians.

People don't like it and say it's terrible cuz they don't
like Billy? no surprises there.

Still don't see any other reviews of MSofS

precisely. these are 5 highly respected musicians who are
known to have made excellent music in the past. it can't go
wrong.

that's what the album sounds like, too. a bit unadventurous,
perhaps. only jesus i/msots shows their full potential.
