Hey,

I've heard alot of negative things about this album from
reviews and such, but many of you seem to love it!

Well, I'm not sure if I should buy it...I mean, I loved
Confield, and Ep7 to an extenct, and Inc. and Amb, but I
can't get into LP5 for some reason...

Anyway, is it true that CS is highly repetitive and boring,
or is it in fact as good as Confield, or just plain
enjoyable?
THanks for anyhelp.

i thought almost all ae was extremely repetitive, with
subtle changes being mixed in.

Did you listen to reviews before buying music before?

No?

Why start now? It's ESSENTIAL Autechre material. Buy it,
shut up and listen.

Thank you.

:)

Heh....DaWeeze, I normally just buy music, yes...i HATE
reviews. But those reviews described it as "repetitive" and
that bothered me, since noone described LP5 as repetitive,
and i found it very much so...Confield is more my cup of
tea-constantly shifting. I love it...:D

"It's brutal and stark at times, and most of the pieces take
their time to develop, but at its heart, this is some of
Autechre's best work. It just takes time to reveal itself."

chiastic slide is my favourite.

its the most consistant of ae's albums, imo.

it all works as a whole.

""In retrospect, Chiastic Slide stands as one of their best
records, and is generally considered the great lost
electronic record of the 1990's. Its influence on the
electronic scene is noticable even today in the work of
groups like Four Tet and the Boards of Canada. Even Thom
Yorke cites it as an influence. At the time of its release,
however, critics were split between calling it brilliant or
screaming that it was unlistenable. Nothing records, in
sticking with the general botch-job they've done handling
things, declined to carry the record at all for American
distribution, and for five years, listeners stateside would
be forced to pay upwards of $30 for an import copy. ""

I remember when it first came out - my friends and I would
sit around trying to figure out if it was brilliant or just
shit.

--------------------------------------------

Years later I firmly believe this is as good as anything
they've done. It's a breathtaking trip.

Chiastic is a very juicy greasy-sounding album, with
lots of beautiful melodic material. One of my Ae top2. The
first is LP5. I could not get into it for a long time too,
but then, as my chinese grandmother says, BLAM KAIEEE, and
my music tastes are something worth speaking of. The
repetitiveness is not bad there, it evolves covertly. It's
extremely active meditation.

buy CD's I just go to towerrecords.com and hear some clips

I do not agree.

it has much more texture than amber, is further evolved
generally.

Let's not turn this into a discussion, ok?
I'm sick of everything that begins with "no way," "are you"
or "imho", so pleeease talk about something non-personal or
I'll rape you.
