I've switched from music tastes to music tastes over the
last decade.I've listened to pop at first, then dance, happy
hardcore,rave,gabba,d'n'b,jungle,trip hop to idm.I've
actually stuck to IDM (Or whatever you wan't to call it) for
a while now.But will it last?
I think (hope) it will, its more of a lifestyle to me.Its
also a hobby,an addiction.I've also gone a bit Radiohead and
Sigur Ros sided too.
I don't think i'll move on because theres always fresh ideas
evolving from new artists, its a rapid style.
How do you guys feel? How long have you been a fan of such
music?

I don't really switch music tastes.

I acquire new tastes.

Yes it devolops,I don't just wake up one morning and think
"fuck Autechre,I like Britney Spears from now on."
I still like/listen to many different genres of music, just I
always have an Alpha music.

I never really stick to one sort of style of music mainly
because of this. I prefer to keep my options open and just
hop around between them all, I don't get so fed up with
anything then.

You can't realy say hos long a "fad" is going to last, cause
there may be something even better out in a year or two that
nobody has thought of. One thing is for sure though, the
songs/tracks that you really love you always will
enjoy

Its bad to have all your apples in one basket, and its great
discovering new things and broadening your horizons

To put this into perspective, I have been listening to a lot
of blue grass (banjo type folk music) lately, I put it on in
my car and pretend to be running away from the law, great
fun! That and classic rock, been getting into that a lot
recently too.

the thing with electronica (i hate 'IDM') is that there are
so many things you can do with it, so its a case that you
get loads of sub-genres in it. You have your cheesy stuff
(DMX krew), ambient (aphex saw period and coil), hip-hop
stuff (prefuse 73) and crazy jungle-ish (vsnares and []<).

Electronica is a type of music without many rules, its a way
of using electronics to make music, so it can be what it
wants.

My 2 cents there.

i don't know how your evolution looks like, but for me, i
always evolute further, so, after autechre, there couldn't
be britney, cause i would deevolute...
next thing could only be merzbow, and after this something
else...
