do you work with a partner ?

i read sime interviews with autechre, and where some
interesting things about that, how they work together.
sometimes they work on a song both, but sometimes, everyone
works in a separrate studio alone. i had a partner i worked
with for a long time, but he got bored with it. i liked the
fact, i could share my ideas with something, ask someone
about my music.

so, do you work with a partner ? when yes, how are you
dividing your work ?

myself

Its better to do something, pass it to your friend, and then
back and forth. If you try doing stuff at the same time it
gets messy.

My friend and I work together sometimes, I sit here, while
he's piggin out on the couch, make a melody, I go sit down,
he comes on, does a beat, work back and forth, and so
on...just for fun every now and again.

i used to make music with these 3 guys like all the time.
every weekend we'd get togetehr and my friend brent would
usually think of an idea for a song and sort of lay down the
foundation, then he'd get me to sort of clean it up and add
more stuff and then we'd record vocals with my buddy dave.
sometimes dave would make the music too.
then sometimes my friend landon would call me up and him and
dave w0ould be working on some guitar stuff
so i'd go over and sort of add my 2 cents then lay down some
drums etc

yeah

I used to be in a similar situation elusive. But it ended up
with us going our separate ways because my friend
basically lost interest too.

"I liked the fact, i could share my ideas with something,

I liked this too very much. You have more freedom and
options working solo. But sometimes its good to work with
someone else. Moral support and idea exchanging, it doesnt
work though when the other person isnt into it and doesnt to
the same amount of work you do. This kindoff hindered my
progress because we were practically done with a full length
album, he went off to Milwuakee to join some garage band to
play keyboard (which is kinda funny because he cant play the
keys very well at all), and I am almost done with my debut
album and in the meanwhile going to school studying to get a
degree in music technology and doing random part time jobs.

Its kinda hard to work with someone for a while (I think we
were working together for a year and a half) and then get
back into your own creative groove agian. It takes a while
but eventually you get back into the swing of things

My advise, before you get into a group with some other
people, take a REALLY close look at their work habits and
motivation

My 2 cents anyway
