my friend andre has a waldorf Q and an rm1x and an rs7000,
mixer and 16 track digital recorder.

if you ask me he doesn't need the rm1x AND the rs7000 cause
the rs7000 blows the other away. sell the rm1x.

not that this is really a ton of gear but the problem is
he's never produced anything as far as I know.

me and him plan on working together in the future though so
I guess gear is good.. but like I said in a former post I'm
a fan of small set ups. they are nice and personal.

He should sell it all, prices for Hardware will drop in the
next few years, cuz EVERYONE will be producing with software
instead......

he shoud sell it and make a wise hardware investment
something like a roland system 100
or tb303
even mc202
these will all grow in price
maybe in a couple of years people wont want em but it will
all come around again
and all great synths to use in the meantime.
computers are bad investments
its that or maybe some shares in oil

Yea tell him to start collecting some rare stuff that will
apprieciate in value, ie the SIDstation, because there are
only so many SID chips in the world.

Naaaa, oil shares are no good because all the resources will
be used up and it takes a while for the oil to replenish
itself. Tell him to buy stock in water and hydrogen
companies

I like hardware, because there is no replacing the feeling
of touching and feeling a synth, turning the knobs, watching
the lights... WEEE!

Softsynths just sound too sterile.
And I miss the feel of the hardware.
You can say, get a controller box.
But it still isn't the same.
My Superbassstation has small knobs, the prophecy big knobs.
Its the feeling...
