to mithridatize:

to get immunised against a poison, by taking very small,
then graduated, doses of it...

- comes from the king Mithridate VI, a fierce opponent to
the romans. since his life was menaced because of his
position, he used to mithridatize himself... until he got
beaten.
he couldn't accept defeat, so he tried to commit suicide by
poisoning himself - unfortunately, it didn't work because he
was already immunised, so he had to ask a guard to
transpierce him with his sword... ironic heh :)

ohhhh thats cool.

i think snake handlers do that as well....they take snake
venom in small doses so if they get BIT they won't
die......however they have to be careful with eggactly how
much they give themselves!!

*snake venom is expensive!*

that sounds like a good idea.

that way i can cross poison off the list of ways nigel can
die. it's up there with cervical cancer.

just checked...
