WOOFER, REMEMBER??

remember this my friend?:

------------------------------------------------
*** 1st Elektronic Championship.nu ***
__________2002 EDITION____________

------------------------------------------------
*** GRAND FINAL ***

-----------------------------------------------

THE COMPETITION IS OVER... THE CHAMPION OF THE CHAMPIONS
IS... AAAPHEXXX TWINNN !!!!!!!!

**********************************
Final result

Aphex Twin - Squarepusher = 29 - 17
**********************************

Aphex Twin is the champion of first edition 2002 of this
Elektronic championship.nu
He hasn't oppenets enough strong for him, but we have to do

a big applause to Tom Jenkinson who did a really good
championship.
This competition will remain famous for the victory of
Squarepusher against Boards of Canada first and Autechre
then.
Aphex Twin is the king, he had the benefit to play at home
but he's really a great artist and made the story of
electronic music so he deserves this victory.
...Anyway Richard would be very careful because a lot of
artists want his crown in next championship edition.

Thank you very much to you all for your important support to

this nice game, and for your important vote! This is a
really cool community.

Now that I think about it, your right Nac, that IS a long
wait until BOTH of those new releases are out...I am
changing my vote to " YES "....I think a NEW Championship
for 2003 would be great...

what worries me is that many posters seem to hate this kind
of competiton polls... for some reason they dont like them,
and maybe it would be harder to get such an universal
participation as the last time, besides when people dont
like them, they not only dont participate, they use to post
to say how bad that is, so it starts a discussion on the
thread and it gets impossible to count the votes... these
are some of the difficulties but I think its worth the
effort anyway

I also think that a NEW poll would be just great, but your
point about some members NOT BEING INTO THE IDEA could
hinder it a little.
I am willing to bet the positive votes and participation
would outweigh the negative.
We should have another....=)

I think some people don't participate in/flame those threads
because they do seem to appear quite regularly. Perhaps we
should make it an annual event, one year to the day of the
last one?

I am not saying that those people are to blame you know what
I mean, but its a fact that that would make it a bit more
hard, but of course I respect their Ideas, not everybody has
to like what I like, but those competitions in some way
keeped the community together, I dont know I think it was a
good moment every day checking the results.... I think that
woofer´s competition was better to keep the attention of
the community, cos the league was too long and without many
news while in woofer´s way we had to pay attention to the
groups and each round you know.... but, where is woofer? I
expected to post here and discuss about this with him too

March is NOT that far away...you could take inquiries as to
WHO should be in the contest until March arrives....
I seem to remember there was TONS of different opinions and
changes made to the final list to vote from.

Hello my friends... i remember the elektronic championship
very well, it was very funny!
1st of March could be the right date for...

*** SECOND EDITION OF XLTRONIC CHAMPIONSHIP 2003 ***

This season will be hard for the last winner Aphex Twin, he
should defend his crown from the attack of SQUAREPUSHER (Tom
is very angry... he want his revenge) and AUTECHRE (they
think who new album bring them to the final victory) and
much other new entry as ASTROBOTNIA (Ovuca's new dress),
BOLA, JEGA, etc...

We should start to think the new partecipants to this
IMPORTANT EVENT.

Woofer, Nacmat and Ironlung, the championship is calling for
us ;)

If you are interested to see al matches of last championship
2002, you have to type "championship" in the xltronic search
bar, select "sort by date" and check between 41 to 60,
etc...
You can view all the matches from start to the end.

to this new competition.

I am here and I am ready, its true that some new artist will
have to be in the list, or some old artist that werent here,
for example we could delet the worst clasified last year and
put the new surprises of the season.... (just to know where
to start)

offline nacmat on 2003-01-17 02:41 [#00517346]

I prefer woofers way of competition, it keeps the attention
of posters better.... but what was good about my way is that
we have 50 artist to choose from there, and we can see that
the last 15 or so we shouldnt include them, cos at the end
nobody votes for them

See IMO I think we SHOULD have some of those artists that
are NOT Braindance...it gives the list more depth....And
gives us MORE of a choice=)

I think you might be refering to me as one of those who dont
like championships..pay no mind to me...I actually
participated and voted on a few of those..but after a while
there was like one a week and one tends to loose
track..start one wheever..if I feel like it..I will vote..if
not..I will stay clear i promise..

but I do think..there are lot more deserving IDM artists out
right now..that do merit an inclusion..on the list..right
off the top of my head..

Richard Devine..Speedy J (I mean come on he is one of the
originial Artifical Intelligence artists)..even Richie
Hawtin is more deserving than..say Chemical Brothers..

Sounds fair enough, I dont wanna seem like a pain in the
arse suggesting this, seeing as though my vote will go
towards probably one of the top 3 from last year, just
thought it would make the poll a little easier to get
involved in for NEWER members and/or those who arent HUGE
Braindance fans, but LOVE "electronica"...

First ones that catch my eye as NOT to be left on there this
year would be:

Air
Plone
K+D

but thats just basing my picks on weather or not I am
looking forward too or have been listening to THOSE artists
into this new year.
Anyone agree?

The championship isn't easy to manage .
For a better and funny competition we need to have few
artist in the finals.
24 was a good number, 'cos we had 6 groups with 4
musicians.

We could make QUALIFICATION RACES, for the final
championship... and the 24 bests will fight for the XLTRONIC
CHAMPIONSHIP 2003 EDITION.

The first 4 of last edition could have automatic
qualification (AFX SQUAREPUSHER, ETC...)
