Basefree (BoC) - seems outta place???

I have been listening to TWOISM alot lately and actually
just got done with listening to it now...and is it me...or
does Basefree (track4) seem a little outta place on this
album. To me it seems to disrupt the entire mood of the
record. Dont get me wrong, I like the track, but it has more
of a " Geogaddi harshness " to it. I know I know, it was
recorded WAY BEFORE Geogaddi, but I just seem to think it
would have fit better on that album instead of TWOISM.
Ha, maybe its the lack of sleep that is causing it to get on
my nerves when listening to the album in full, but does
anyone else see where I am coming from?

I just thought the same thing when I heard it. It's a good
song, but a strange place to put it.

Maybe it was the intention...? You know... start all chilled
and wake you up again with Basefree then continue on the
chilled out vein.

Yeah I had that thought also, maybe the boys wanted to throw
a curveball in there...Like I had said, not a BAD track, but
nowhere near the feel and atmosphere of the others on the
album.
IMO

I dunno... if you ignore the drums and concentrate on melody
then it goes well (for me anyway)...

My thoughts exactly.

I like Twoism, mainly because of Melissa Juice (one of my
favourite BoC tracks) and Iced Cooly.

I TRY to ignore the harsh drums, but it hits my eardrums so
fiercly, I cannot enjoy the melody in the back....

I used the bass kill switch on my mixer to eliminate them :)

love that track.

especially the harshness of it. makes a nice contrast.

yes it is different, but i think the album needs breaking up
a bit. i think iced cooly and basefree do that. basefree
sounds like gescom to these ears...not a bad thing!

iced cooly! groovy!

do you think basefree is an anagram of freebase?

i used to think that as well, just listen to it through and
through and after a while it begins to fit

Hmmm...after listening to the track, thru a mixer with the
drums turned WAY down, I STILL COULDNT fit this into the
puzzle of TWOISM....

Anyone else have an opinion?

Yes, I take it to either mean freebasing (it is more aggro
than other BoC ;) ) or to be "free of a base"-
homeless/wandering.

Basefree is more HI-ish

I also think that Basefree is out of place on Twoism but
Iced Cooly disturbs me more. It seems so naivistic and
stupid to me.
