Shit, I hate doing this kind of shit, but I'm a newbie artist, and would like to know what people think of my stuff. http://www.mp3.com/Aaladorn/ please, send me feedback, even if you think it sucks, tell me what sucks!

Very good and playful and generally fun to listen to... even though it is fairly trackerish (ie. not autechre quality sounds all complicated and stuff). What equipment/software do you use? "Rep-yarp-wevi""Woot Woot""Happy fun song!" in particular due to the fast pace percussion/melodies. Happy fun song sounds like cylobs lobster tracks, it's great. Play with melodies more perhaps, but I like the melodies of the mentioned songs. I'll listen more later. You might like the fast percussion of www.mp3.com/astrix. Or try my music at www.mp3.com/artificialselection "Zippy W.'s wombacious tree stump jam"... later.
Curious... at the beginning of woot woot, you know those very first sounds that kind of fade in and out of the cut off point, like gett all basy then go back, do you have an option to gradually slide this effect up and down (if you know what I'm talking about) I wish they had that option on modplug tracker.

Thanks for the comment, I'm a bit embarrassed to say it, but I've used Fruityloops (demo version) for everything I've done because I'm a cheap bastard!
Actually...no, it's because I'm broke and I'm just getting starting out, I'm in my second month of doing this stuff... And I'm hoping to learn some stuff using the basics before I move on to more complicated (and expensive) stuff.
And to anyone out there who isn't making your own music, go to http://www.fruityloops.com/ and mess around with it, if I can do it, anyone can, the world needs more artists!!!
Oh yeah, and your question about the little effect at the begining of the song, I forget exactly how I did it, but I couldn't adjust it manually, you set a little time nob for the duration of the effect.
Again, thanks for the comment! I'll make some better stuff later, just be patient, oh yeah, I'll check out your stuff later tonight.

I hear so many artists making great stuff with fruity loops... can someone describe how the creation process works in this program? It's not like a tracker, right? if I remember right from what I read. I guess it's based on loops or something? I could use some new music making stuff, modplug is getting stale.

Just download the demo, it's just 8 megs, and it's fully functional with NO TIME RESTRICTIONS, the only thing you cannot do is save your work. It comes with loads of samples, it's very easy to use, it just takes a little time to get used to it. But after hearing your stuff, you should be able to get the hang of it fast. Nice stuff, by the way.

Thanks. Maybe I will try it. I hope it doesn't eat my computer's intestines as my computer hates new foreign things it has not developed allergic immunity to yet. The sound quality generally seems to be better on that program than what I can get from modplug tracker. Sucks you can't save it though.

M(mmmM...M...Mmmm)M,
it's loops based, and very cool. best little techno program i've found...
unless you're buying synths and drum machines
go to www.limewire.com or www.bearshare.com and download those programs (like napster), and get frutiyloops from there. full versions there.

I really think Fruityloops is worth the hundred bucks... It really is the best music program you can get for 100 bucks.

Fruityloops is wicked. Better than a lot of the other 'cheap' programs. Its a bit rigid, but its highly versitile, intuitive, open ended, and doesn't require much of your system to work.
A lot of Professional musicians use fruityloops to make their stuff. However, don't limit yourself to it. There are a lot of other great programs out there. I suggest that everyone do something like search for 'music program shareware' over the internet.
