I was going to post a related topic myself - but I might as
well start here. What track should I cover in my live show?
I'm doing some experimental electronica, but I want to do a
cover version so that everyone will know the tune. Any
suggestions? There are not enough hard electronica cover
versions, so help me put that right.

My favourites? Anything by the Moog Cookbook, or China
Drum's version of Wuthering Heights. Not electronica, QED.

requires some thought, but anyone got any
innappropriate/unlikely ones ?
There she goes by the Las is a great song covered pretty
much to a tee by holier than thou frumpy christian clan
Sixpence none the richer.; who presumably failed to realise
the song was penned based on the groups experiences of
class A drug abuse (coursing thru my veins...etc..)during
the 80s. chuckle.

The Cure covering 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' is fantastic.

Id Lab from The Untitled Kingdom on 2001-09-17 21:34 [#00033115]

Nu ideas - Soft Cell's Tainted Love and Frank Black's Hang
Onto Your Ego are top cover versions.

But I think I ought to cover an instrumental theme tune
people will recognise - Star Trek? Hitch-hikers' Guide?
Sci-fi seems to suit. Or Telstar by the Tornadoes -
space-related again, but one of the great instrumentals.

Any more suggestions?

There's very few cover songs that I like... VERY few. In
fact, I'm at a loss, I can't even name ONE...

Britney Spears' ''Satisfaction'' is pretty rockin'. :-/

Probably "Down In The Park" by Marilyn Manson, originally by
Gary Numan. Didn't like the Foo Fighters version, though.

Also, "Mad World" covered on the Donnie Darko soundtrack,
originally done by Tears For Fears is quite good.

Most of the covers Marilyn Manson have done I've liked,
"Sweet Dreams", "I Put A Spell On You", etc.

And as for the cover I dislike the most, I have to
go with "Summer Breeze" by Type O Negative.

So, the probleml w/ covers is that they almost never do
justice to the original, and can infact be rather offensive.
I find that Sting's cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing"
does do justice to the original, with its great passion.

There's probably a cover that I like better, but I just
can't recall it at the mo.

Cover songs are for bands who can't write their own songs.

I liked the ELVIS (impersonater) version of Nirvanas "Come

You might think it sounds wierd but it was actualy very
cool.
