and you're going to have to read it on my site, motherfuckers.

it's not definite or anything, just a new tidbit.

perhaps do a search on the phrase "boards of canada". it's a
big page, but i like it that way: one-stop source for news
on upcoming albums. it has a pretty sensible order to it as
well; confirmed release dates, vague release schedules
(winter/spring etc.), and just flat out 2002 / 2003.

"According to the source quoted here at this link, a new BOC
EP will come out in September and a new album in January.
The full-length album is somewhat confirmed, the EP
obviously never happened. Breaking news: Here's something
direct from John Balance of Coil: "We've been in
contact/communication/reciprocation with the lads from
Boards of Canada. Our extreme appreciation for each other's
work is mutual. Something may also come out of that in the
near future.. Again, it's all in the aether." Wouldn't that
be cool."

in the near future... near like by next summer? or near as
in sometime in the next few years kind of near?

oh well, guess im used to vague info as a nin fan!

Um... isn't the source for your site announcement/scoop (the
source for this own mb announcement) just a link back to our
own cosy community here at xltronic, back when it was still
aphex.nu? (a closed site/dead-end)
You should just date your prophesies and then post a big I
TOLD YOU SO so we can ooh-and-awww when these things
actually come to pass.

Just a skeptic here...

note where it says "Breaking news"
since the site isn't about formality or slickness i seldom
re-write the whole entry when i have something new

titsworth:

a suggestion, make a seperate 'update' section. when i
check your site, i got no idea where to look for recent
news!

Your site is a great place to get a heads up on the
electronic/IDM/hip hop/industrial world titsworth, good job.

CORTEX: are you blind?

and deadwhite: i just wanna make it clear that i do the site
for fun, not for bragging rights. that would get old REAL
fast. i made this thread for 2 reasons: cos people here like
boc and coil; and also, there've been times where sites like
wattm.com and theninhotline.net have posted the same news i
have, days, weeks, or even MONTHS after i put it on my page
when people could've found out long ago if they just paid
attention (eg: squarepusher, nin, bjork, autechre, afx,
plaid, etc. etc.).

and im not talking about that little update thing at the
top.

i was suggestion making an update thing that would include
such informations as the boc thing youre talking about.

oh well...

Hey! I love BOC as much as the next rabid fan! And I'm not
knocking breaking news!

I want your source, man! No rumours, man! We want your Deep
Throat! WATMM is using you as a source and when sources
source other sources you get a wicked feedback mechanism
that feeds the hype with empty calories...man! Keep it
real!

I appreciate the fun-ness of it, though.

Just watch how you sell yourself,

man.

then agian, watmm and theninhotline.net have posted things
that were not on YOUR site

"(eg: squarepusher, nin, bjork, autechre, afx,

not to be an ass, but could you give more specific examples
then just names.... ?

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-12-12 23:39 [#00479482]

i can't always name my source, but when i can i link it or
say who it is (like i did for the BoC news, both the old
info and the brand new bit). what's the big deal? when it's
conjecture or rumor i try to make it clear. anyway i think
you're missing the bigger picture here; the site isn't about
showing off or being a cool guy in the know. it's about
music!

i know what you mean though. once someone cites someone else
as a source, that source appears "legitimate." unfortunately
that's not always the case, which is why peer-reviewed
sources are favorable.

CORTEX: i say what band's album info has been updated, then
people can browse to that entry and read it. sure, it'll
take them 30 seconds to see what's new (it might all be new
to them if they hadn't read it before) but it's not worth
cluttering up my page putting it in two places..

of course! and i use watmm and the nin hotline quite
liberally as sources myself. i'm just saying, check my page
too cos a lot of stuff i put up there is exclusive (for a
while).

some things i know about i can't or won't put on my page cos
i've been asked not to, or if i put it there it might not
happen (still in planning stages). this was the case for the
richard devine/trent reznor news, but now that that's been
announced i put it on my page WITH an additional note not
found on other sites.

my page was first to provide details on the aphex remix
album, the new squarepusher, solid info on the twoism
rerelease, lots of odds and ends about bjork, some news
about mogwai's new album, news about cex's upcoming albums,
etc.

i think we'll all find out that boc+coil=prettydamngood

i'm drooling at the thought

it doesn't seem like light and dark to me, more like
forboding and menacing. but in a good way :) seems almost
like a natural pairing.

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-12-13 11:58 [#00479965]

seems natural to me too
boc contributed to an unreleased compilation on coil's
eskaton label
boc sound a lot like some of coil's more abstract (less
industrial) music

just using this old thread because it's funny how i'll say
something first then xlt or watmm will say the same thing
days, weeks, or months later and everyone's all "oooooh,
ahhhhh"

boards of canada remixed cLOUDDEAD's forthcoming "Dead Dogs
Two"
as always...

informative site. thanks for the news.

however the site is a little hard on the eyes. informative,
but hard on the eyes.

yea, i'll redesign it someday, perhaps with a blue
background.. as it is now i only have the time for the
content of my site, not the layout and design. red's a tough
color, it was nice when i made it but it's a bit of a strain
on the old eyes.

"Archrival read an interview where they said they'll be
"taking it back to the old sound, more analog minimalistic
sounding Twoism style.""

blah, give us something new for Christ's sake!! I love BoC,
and their style is great, but please do something new!! I
can't take another cd like Twoism I don't think...

maybe that's a bit harsh, cause I love them, really I do...
but I really want to hear something completely different...
and that's kinda disappointing to hear they're going WAY
back to twosim, and imitating that... at least to me it is!

joyrex i see you scooped up the info.. thanks for giving me
a credit. however, you misreported it. see the OTHER link i
provided; it'll be on a 12" single from the album, not the
vinyl version of the album. it's song seems to be "Dead Dogs
Two".
