I'm looking for good soundtracks,

not a compilation sndtrk with good artists on it,.. but a
"single themed backing music", such as the akira / requiem
for a dream / fight club / Quake soundtrack

I'd like something that'd be nice to play games / browse
forums to,...

blade runner - vangelis

look for the two disc off world definitve edition, not the
orchestra or official vangelis release. this is some of the
darkest stuff out there.
it also contains some new material including vangelis
impersonating amber era autechre (the track called blush
response) ;)

well 1942 soundtrack by Vangelis is electronic but
classically influenced.. don't let that put you off if
you're not into classical because its really good...its's
completely electronic and has some amazing melodies and
atmospheres..some very good use of synths and choirs on a
few of the tracks

you may have heard the second track "conquest of paradise"
before it is quite famous and was used as the theme for a
famous boxer a few years back but i forgot his name..its
also used as the theme for a NZ rugby team over here

virgin suicides is not really like all i need at all. but
the sound is thegood old air sound anyway. i think vs could
be what you are looking for. i really like it.

Peter Gabriel - Passion (the last temptation of christ)

Ennio Morricone - Soundtrack to Once Upon a time in America
(most Morricone is agood listen)

Funny, there's this one track on the Passion disk that
sounds like Ennio Morricone could have composed it. I forget
the title; it has a sad sounding soprano saxamaphone.
