Ventolin

Avid Window from Albuquerque, New Mexico on 2001-04-02 06:56 [#00002322]

I have found that Ventolin is an anagram for "nine volt".
This could just be a coincidence, but if you see any reason
this would make sense, just post a reply.

"ventolin" is named after the asthmatic drug "ventolin" I
think you're just imagining things

Avid Window from Albuquerque, New Mexico on 2001-04-02 07:53 [#00002328]

Yeah, you're probably right. Aphex does use a lot of
anagrams for his songs though. In his album I Care Beacause
You Do, for example, about half the songs names are
anagrams. It is interesting how Aphex does clever things
like anagrams and hidden titles like in SAW II. I wasn't
aware of these things until I got on this web site.

Richard D. James has asthma - and pretty badly too i hear -
he tried to give the Ventolin cd that claustrophic feel of
having an asthma attack

hexane: That is just a rumour.

whoops! Sorry for posting the same message two more times!
I kept pressing back on my browser and this sort of
happened.
Well I can see how Ventolin has a very asthmatic feel.
It is also considered to be one of the harshest singles
ever made. I guess Aphex wanted to share this experience to
others.

My girlfriend has athsma somewhat and used to take Ventolin.
It's more commonly known as ProVentil or Albuterol. She
gave me the prescription label that says "Ventolin" on it.
It came in a syrup form and she was to take 1 tsp 3x daily
if needed for cough. R. James was quoted as saying that the
high-pitched sound from the song "Ventolin" was what you
hear in your head if you take too much. I can verify this as
well. If you take a lot of this and then listen to Caustic
Window or other ICBYD era James, you can basically create
your own remixes of Ventolin, in your head, in real time.

----> "Once I dreamed a sound that never existed before in
human conciousness. I woke up, made the sound, and I found
it would lapse me into a dream-state instantly."

I was wondering what the high pitch noise throughout the
song was suspost to be. For me, it is the hardest part of
listening to Ventolin

Avid Window: thats supposed to sound like what its like to
take too much Ventolin.. or the derivitives of that asthma
medicine. That high pitched sqeual.. i read that RDJ tried
to totally recreate that sound from his mind.. when he took
too much.. he said that it was calm and soothing to the
ears.. he could work and do whatever totally normally while
enjoying himself. even with that noise. I like it.

When I listen to ventolin, I feel like I'm having an athsma
attack, and become hard of breathing, especially at 1:30
where it changes from a definite tone to a "chubby" tone, It
kinda reminds me of what it's like breathing when having an
attack,

yeah Ventolin is the shit. i don't think i need to explain
the high pitch sound... ppl have that taken care of.

but ventolin is the best song to put on if you want to
really annoy ppl

AFXDUB from Canada on 2001-04-06 01:41 [#00002765]

My favourite on there is Ventolin (Wheeze mix) on the cd. It
has those really really creepy effects in it. I think its a
keyboard thrown threw some filters.. either way its really
distrubing.
