...my mates went and said it was average, nothing special. Just another night of noodly electronica, no big surprises. And apparently all Aphex did was play some old skool hardcore records. Wow, like, thanks Richard.

i was there, and i did enjoy the night. richard d james did start his set with some old skool hardcore (you know the score!) and then played some wicked old skool style drum and bass. i was for some reason expecting an ambient set, but was not let down.
a very interesting venue as well. the courtyard was lovely and the massive glass sculpture thing they had sat in the middle of this fountain was gorgeous.

being the kinda gig that 'non-believers' may have attended, was there any sence of the audience being pleasantly suprised by the funny little man making that big face? ...or were y'all 'adcore fans!?....i'm picturing a seated, opera-seat-type performance!!.....

i dunno what you mean by 'unbelievers' - explain. no, it wasn't a seated thing, it was all standing in a massive courtyard in the middle of the buildings.

by non-believers i meant, people who ain't heard of the 'Twin...you know, folks who went to the performance cos they saw last month's Piano concerto in D-minor, or something.....and now felt their brain dance for the first time!

oh please, you're not one of those die hard aphex fans who is so far gone up his own arse he dismisses new people with new interests in what richard d james is doing, calling them newbies and unbelievers.
i am dissappointed in you. the evening held at the v&a was not at all a 'gig' dedicated to the aphex twin. it was a celebration of contempory art and music. there were lots of people there who came to see other things, and may not have been interested in the aphex twin at all.

no.mate.....i'm not. I was being kinda ironic saying 'non-believers', attributing a god-like status to the man, for the craic...knowing he's not, and taking the piss out of folks who go nuts about him on fan sites like this
Appreciate the disappointment though.

that's fair enough - but if your gonna take the piss, don't make statements that suggest that you are the very same thing that you are taking the piss out of.
this could prove to be a rather humiliating exercise.

Chicken-paste guy.. c'mon...you're only humiliated if you feel humiliated. I KNOW i'm taking the piss and if no-one else does, what does it matter? One just get mails like yours and the reality eventually comes out as i explain myself. Of course, I don't have to....but it's nice to clear the air.
I also dress up as the Twin going to gigs (i look a tad like him)...and this too is part piss take on the whole aphex image and part ice-braker with the other ravers...it's a buzz and i know i'm no more a head-up-me-arse fan of aphex twin as i am of any artist. In the end, i simoly enjoy the choons and if theres fun to be had along the way...cool
- dig squarepusher big-time too...you?

I went this really beat up B&B in Newquey once and the man who owned it looked just like Jesus Christ. He wore a dirtwhite robe and was really nice to everyone.
At the end of my stay, I told him he looked like Jesus and he said that Jesus inspired him. Jesus inspires me but I dont go round looking like him...
oops... sorry to interupt with such a pointless thing to say.
I think RDJ looks like Jesus' evil twin. the Anti-Christ.

how do we know jesus had a beard? even the oldest of pictures that depict images of christ were painted many many hundreds of years after the romans nailed up the bitch. i mean, how do we know that jesus wasn't a nine foot black man?
