 | minimal is the way to go for sure.
alls i want in my studio is a laptop, running csound, and
Logic (and i guess some other stuff, like reason, and some
softsynths/sampler... but if i get real good with csound, i
dont think ill need any of that), an audio interface, and a
midi keyboard. And some speakers of course.

 i hate hardware.

 | csound is crap?
 wtf are you talking about?!?!?

its like, THE most powerful synthesizer EVER. its just
 massivly hard to learn.

you can make any sound on it, that any soft synth or hard
 synth can make.

seriously, there are no limits with it.

 | supercollider is the same only its modern, far more flexible, being actively developed, easier to learn, less
 archiac, FAR better gui support...

could you write a sample editor in csound?

 | that was only a half rhetorical question i suppose - i never pursued csound passed the initial "fuck that for a laugh"
stage... If you can (and i'd be VERY suprised from what i
looked at) i would still think that supercollider pisses all
 over csound.

although, if you wanna learn it i suppose thats wicked too -
learning about synthesis from as many different angles as
possibles has got to be good. All i'm saying is, give sc a
try and THEN learn csound :)

 | well, if SC is easier to use... ill learn csound first, and once im good at that, ill go on to something easier.

Its good to know the hard stuff.

But yeah. im interested in not having to rely on
manufactured synths and stuff. Making my own sounds, that
 are totally unique.

also, since its code... i can throw in some crazy equations
 into the mix .... :)

and i can do microtonal stuff too!

but yeah. i want to learn it so bad. I want to be like,
fluent with it. I want csound to my instrument.

Id like someday to be able to write all my music on JUST
 csound. Complete control.

i'm currently trying to figure out a way of assembling tiny

pitch + peak detect will probably be necessary...
