i saw it today-it was actually pretty good there was some talk about people leaving the cinema when this film was shown in cannes, the same thing happened here-when the rape of monica belluci was in "session" many people left-especially females. Film has great sound effects and some fine music-especially the one in the rectum scene. And all the fighting seemed real-especially when some guy trashed some other guys head, and also the scene where some guy raped miss belluci and then kicked her in the head-never saw something so real in film before. Anyway the story wasnt that good, but the way film was filmed is brilliant+music is pretty good, so i guess it worth seeing it again.

friends told me it was crappy tolstoyed i think people get out of the cinemas when the guy get his face smashed by an extinctor, as i heard!
a sex scene and a violent scene seem to be the only two things present in a poor sxcenario...and i dont like those actors very much, although vincent cassel was the best in "the doberman"

yeah, i heard it was terrible and horrible but i went to see it anyway, and like tolstoyed said it was actually pretty good. Its hard to explain. Its not like i love extreme violence but it was interesting to see a movie that is so different from what you usually see.
The way it is filmed really makes your head spin, and that combined with 3d sound effects make it to be like a sickening rollercoaster ride.. and then when its over you start to think...

The rape scene in Greenaway's Baby of Macon was pretty damn long too. Fuck my shit, but he is one fucked up fucking motherfucker.
I take it this rape scene is a lot more explicit though...

I saw this movie last night and it was hands down THE BEST movie I have ever seen. It was violent and graphic, but I don't feel it was in a shock tactic way like the media and even the director claim. AMAZING.

i just saw this flick with some mates. the introducing camera spinning/confusion was a bit too much but apart from that it was brilliant.
very well made loooong scenes with excellent acting. the rape scene was disgusting and very good. and very long.
four thumbs up.

harsh stuff can really fuck me up, as in I will be carrying it with me for weeks.
even though its just a movie. I just get into it to such a degree that it really hits home.
for example, I had to put my head between my legs to prevent me from fainting during the last 10 minutes of "Requiem of a dream". I really almost went down.
that sure teached me a lesson. :)

seems to me like they were going for the shock value with this one... imo there is no need for a 10 minute rape scene...
monica belluci is hot though, but I don't have any desire to see her being raped...

when they showed it at the tower here in slc I guess there were people that were so appalled and mindfucked that they had to be escorted into the lobby, and an ambulance showed up to administer oxygen to people.
I definitely need to see it. graphic rape scenes are hard on my female self, but I think this one may be worth the endurance, yeah?

this movie was clearly not made by people wanting to shock people for no reason, of course they put a little extra cream on the rape scene because they want you to really hate the rapist!

death of innocent civilians in iraq brought on by "the axis of good" is a far more shocking thing than seing a fictional scene of rape on a theatre screen. the saddest of all is the fact that a lot of people prefer to focus their anger on imaginary social ills such as the "evil" influence of television on today's youngsters, rather than trying to curb the real evil at its sourse - the availability of weapons on the streets of america in this example.
also, it pains me to see the sheer ignorance of the masses to the issues which plague our human existence. ignoring a problem doesn't exactly make it go away. rape, murder, child abuse, drug abuse - those are all facts of life which society at large does not wish to bother themselves with becouse of their disturbing nature. a movie such as 'irreversible' ought to be applauded for portraying life for exactly what it is - imperfect - and not as some sugarcoated hollywood fantasy complete with silicone-enhanced bottled blond whores and speedboat racing mutimillionaires. it is the cartoonish depiction of violence in arnold, bruce willis and steven segal movies which is worryisome, though you probably won't be seeing anyone walking out of the new Terminator movie when arnie blows some poor fella's head to bits "like it ain't no thang!"
'irreversible' shows that a life taken is not a life you can bring back. actions have consequences.

I think it's funny everyone thinks this movie is so violent... ONE person dies.
In your average Hollywood thrill ride hundreds of people die. The thing that is shocking about this movie is consequences are shown and a realistic perspective is given to serious subjects like rape and death and they are shown in FULL REALISTIC time. Most movies gloss over their violence, which I feel is more shocking and disturbing.
