People using FruityLoops

Wizard MaC from Middelburg on 2001-08-30 10:49 [#00027768]

HEy I uesd to use trackers to sequence my tracks, but I've
downloaded FruityLoops Demo (could anyone send me a crack
please) and I think this is a really kick-ass program! The
possiblities are great and it's less boring to work with
than a trackerprogram.

I want to know some things:
How can I create patterns of 32 or 64 steps instead of
16-step patterns?
Is it possible to create snarerolls?

Thanks a lot,
MaC

at the top there a few drop down menus here you are able to
choose a 32 and 64 length pattern

why are patterns of 65 and 37 not available ?

choose a snare drum and put a few together and increas the
feed back / delay and volume at the same time

you can use mad time signatures.
i never do though.

my head is fucked enough already.
and i have been acting "lofty"? wtf?
ask my folks.

Hello Od

what exactly is a time signature ?

Does it mean that beats can be placed in random places if
you want ?

thanks
teeth

Time signature = Definition of how many beats there are in a
bar.
eg. a time signature of 4/4 (usual for most music) is 4
beats per bar. 6/8 is six beats. The typical time signatures
used are 4/4 and 6/8, although there are some interesting
effects if you use something like 7/8 or 9/16.
The first number (eg. 6/8) is how many beats are in a
bar, and the second number (6/8) is the time value of
the bar, kind of hard to explain...

wizards teeth on 2001-08-30 15:43 [#00027845]

so can a bar be of any length ?

why are most set at 4 on drum machines etc ?

is it possible to have fractions of a bar ?

all these numbers are confusing me

thanks for the information rf

You can have fractions of a bar eg. a 31-step bar as opposed
to 32, which will give a quite weird and "mindfuck" effect.

4/4 beats/melodies are the "normal" way of making songs
because people can find it easier to find the beat if it's
not shifting all over the place... Although, a song can be
in 4/4 timing, but have an unconventional drum beat, it
doesn't have to be bassdrums on each beat, etc..
An example of a 7/8 beat is Autechre's "777". If you listen
carefully, there are only 7 beats in the bar, instead of 8.

If you have the beats running at 4/4, but the melody running
at 7/8 then the melody seems to circle round and round,
eventually ending up where it started.

If you see what I mean.

I've tried that before, it's quite weird..

I'm also making a song that changes signature every bar,
that would be quite mindfucking...

wizards teeth on 2001-08-30 16:32 [#00027853]

I like the concept of mind fuck, does this mean minds going
funny.

I went to the glastonbury festival last years and the hot
dog vans looked like ships in a field. I was chatting to a
girl that transformed into a boy as i was speaking to him /
her.

I do not get in these states all the time, just sepcial
occasions. I think it is good to go like this every now and
again, just to test what is real.

I may experiment with these non standard beat set ups
