Timbaland

I just saw the Missy Elliot video for "Work It" for the
first time and Timbaland is in the beginning... he is such a
dork. It is so funny that someone that makes such good beats
is so cheezy.

i guess hip-hop isn't all about being "hard" after all.
closeminded idm fans take note. (p.s. this is in no way
directed toward regital.)

Although I do not care for most of the tracks Timbaland's
produced, I will say that this one has quite a bit of charm
in it. Smooth delivery on each of the beats. I like the
really 80s sounding fat beat at the very, very beginning,
the one that's played at the part in the video that Regital
is talking about.

i love all the tracks he does for missy and aaliyah
(R.I.P.). even tho i hate limp bizkit, the 2 remixes he did
for them are incredible as well. he hired scott storch
(ex-member of the roots) to play keys and the tracks are
about 100x better than the originals.

"put my thang down flip it and reverse it....."

It doesnt surprise me at all really that some one that is so
dorky, also makes excellent beats. If you think about it,
reason he is so good at beat making and producing is the
fact that he has been doing it for about 10 years or
longer... all that time in the studio, practicing...
working. And I love that timbaland style of his... I think
its great that he is so quirky. But I heard this track on
power 106 like 3 month's ago, first time aired on radio. And
missy talked about it later... saying that she and timbaland
were trying to fuse old skool with new school in her new
album. And she was talking about the video.. saying it was
meant to be fun and retro. Personally I am tired of this...
is am super cool look at me... attitude in rap music....
only person/groups that pull that off IMO are the neptunes
and dmx...

dj premier is ugly as shit and really non-thuggish and he's
one of the best hip-hop producers of all time.

i dont think it should be that surprising that a producer
making great beats is a dork... hell..look at like 90% of
the idm producers you can think of...

the chances are they got to be that good at producing from
spending their youth sitting in their rooms listening to
records and playing around with equipment...rather than out
partying

and as titsworth said.. hip hop isnt about having a hard
image...
just look at the anticon collective... a bunch of white guys
with beards...
and i've seen numerous pictures of doesone sporting a mickey
mouse hat

and the guys from cannibal ox have a gigantic bruce hornsby
poster hanging in the apartment they record their stuff in

jay dee did 1/2 of common's 2000 album "like water for
chocolate". the other 1/2 was done by the soulquarians
(?uestlove, james poyser, and d'angelo)

there're also remixes jay dee did for jamiroquai and daft
punk..
Jamiroquai - Black Capricorn Day (Jay Dee Remix)
Jamiroquai - Black Capricorn Day (Slum Village Remix)
Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (Slum Village Remix)

I kind of like what Timbaland does with beats, but it got
kind of irritating as just about every record that came out
(when the Timbaland hype started a few years ago) was
produced by him.

even worse with Neptunes. FUKKING EVERYWHERE!!!

I'm not saying Timbland needs to be "hard" because that
hardcore tough guy image is even funnier. It's just in the
beginning of the video he is so animated, almost sarcastic
that I was like "Damn this guy is a dork." Not really a
negative thing... just an observation. I think he has a good
sense of humor. Same with Missy.

timbaland might retire... he's sick of the rap game. what a loss that'd
be, especially since some of his stuff in the last couple
years has been so astonishing. at least he should do the
collaborative album w/ dr. dre before he retires.

the new bubba sparxxx album is actually supposed to be
amazing.

I like the beat to "gossip folks" on missy's latest album,
those kids are weird

Timbaland rules. Missy's pretty cool too. They both have a
great unique but cool style.
